If you were only going to have one caliber?

I have done the unthinkable: sold all other rifles and retained just one. Calibre = .30 Cartridge = 30-06

Rifle Scopes Leica, S&B, Zeiss Turret Reliability Question

If you make a special order you can get the 3-12x50 klassik s&b with an illuminated p3 mildot and target turrets on both elevations and windage. Me and two friends have them and they’re excellent.

Gunsmithing Trg-s bolt stop pin thread size

Bit of a tricky one: sometime in the history of my Trg-s a previous owner loctited all the fixings including the bolt stop pin. I had to remove it as the previous owner had also hammered on the bolt release and bent the pin. Had to mill it out... Anyway, it’s a small hole with what’s left of...

Rifle Scopes Looking for recommendations on a hunting scope

I run a Schmidt 3-12x50 klassik with target turrets and illuminated p3 mildot. Kind of a PM1... had to order it from Schmidt. I think Schmidt used to call it a precision hunter. Not perfect (id like a bit more top end) but the glass is great, illumination does the job and it’s under 23oz....

    6.5 PRC vs 270 WSM

Used rem and Winchester. Binned it as too much work involved (with the stuff I had). Moved to Norma brass. This is the procedure I follow with Norma: Buy some. Load it. Go and shoot. Just don’t try and buy Norma factory loaded ammo: spendy ?

    6.5 PRC vs 270 WSM

More people shooting .277 equals more bullets and more options... Over here (uk) brass is easy to come by. High bc bullets less so. The wsm is a great multi purpose proposition though. If the round can be loaded so the base of the bullet is at neck/shoulder junction with long enough magazines...

    6.5 PRC vs 270 WSM

Think the standard mag length on the t3 is around 3.37 or thereabouts. Loaded to near ideal length those 165s are around 3.15..

    6.5 PRC vs 270 WSM

I asked proof the same question. I wanted a shorter 22 or 24” one in 8/8.5 and was told they didn’t/wouldn’t do it. Tbh the t3 offers a great length for the wsm. I have some samples on the bench of the 165gr matrix .270 bullets. They have a good reputation on Elk I hear. If a carbon barrel was...

    7mm 6.5 x 47?

Re: 7mm 6.5 x 47? Thanks Andrew, appreciate it. Think someone mentioned a 7mm-22-250.. Case is around the right size and there is lapua brass available now. Perhaps this would be a contender too.. I'll have to get some cases to compare capacities etc now Drat.

    7mm 6.5 x 47?

Re: 7mm 6.5 x 47? Thanks guys, all good info to consider. I know 7-08 would do it. I'm just wondering if can make the 47 case perform my task with less powder, blast and recoil (and no I'm not a recoil sensitive 7 stone laydee... :-)) it would just be advantageous to have it do so). Don't...

    7mm 6.5 x 47?

Re: 7mm 6.5 x 47? Sorry guys, should have been clear in my o.p. The rifle will be primarily a hunter and will use bullets in the 130-140gr range. 18 inch barrel to compensate for length of moderator/keep the rifle handy Moderate velocity is no great issue for a hunting round used within...

    7mm 6.5 x 47?

Anyone done one of these? Thinking of one for an 18 inch barreled rifle. reasons: different expansion ratio to the 6.5 should allow a shorter barrel to be more effective easy conversion (little brass prep) Good components Any views?

    Precision Mauser?

Re: Precision Mauser? While the Sako 75 is not a true 98- it was very close. No, not even close. Extractor completely different, 3 lugs not 2, smaller lift radius, different recoil lug arrangement, 1 is parallel sided one is not, different bridge profiles (level bridge on Sako) etc etc...
