It's probably been answered elsewhere, but what causes the carbon ring and is there anything to do to prevent it or slow it down? Is it from the Case necks being oversized and not allowing it to form a seal? Or just the nature of the game?

Last question..... does the 6 PPC seater die work well for the ARC? I've seen some other posts that reference using that die as a substitute. Just wondered if anyone has tried it and what the results are.

Thanks @alamo5000 and @Lunchbag for the tip on the Mighty Armory dies. I had not heard of them. A quick look at them looks really interesting. I mandrel all my various calibers with an LE Wilson mandrel die (love it), but I like that the Mighty Armory does both in one step.

I agree. I have a couple of very promising loads with Bergers...... 105 HT around 2975-2980 and 109 LRHT around 2950-2960. They get out to 1300+ pretty easily and very accurately. So I'm hoping I get a lot of barrel life out of these. I just don't feel the need for more speed.
