question to see general thoughts on this

Unless I miss something, it IS a Type 56, just a former PLO gun the IDF got then someone picked up cheap and tossed the original stock (which were often nice... too bad). So, no one sees history in these, no value, but I think interesting. Is it otherwise ruined? I found that unclear, sorry...

Would it help if I posted the HK94/SG-1? :D

    ATF

I too have heard the tales they are getting more petty but... too much anecdote. I like stats. And with COVID stuff, as well as random removals of funding etc it's hard to compare anything ATF does as year-over-year changes. Is there a list (graph better yet!) of revocations and/or total FFLs...

Historical question, why doesn't a bolt gun that takes 30-06 en bloc clips exist?

Same tale as the magazine cutoffs on bolt guns that persisted into WW2. Generals didn't want soldiers "wasting ammo." Lots of decisions are by people whose experience is the war before last, and who have nothing but contempt for the end users.

    FBI Sniper Rifles

Oh I got to remember this line. :ROFLMAO: True, but even I forget that was the sort of thing that required weird workarounds or meant that other guns (even other 5.56s with just better mounting options) were popular in their niches.

Seriously? Just for starters: no one is issuing 9 mm SMGs over 5.56 rifles /today/. The SMG era was back when most western armies had 7.62 rifles, the US and slowly more allies had slightly lighter rifles in 5.56. Rifles. Not carbines. For the period where the MP5 was the bestest of the SMGs...

Night Vision SOK's TigIR Z6+ Initial Review + Video

Seriously? I used @wigwamitus' unit in front of a couple different scopes for a few hours and found it absolutely delightful, out to a bit past 8x IIRC.

    SOLD sold

Tried a PM, but I am interested in this alone. If splitting, do tell more so I can confirm it's what I think it is. If not splitting up: where did you get it from?

    Bore guide myth?

Naw. I've learned from this forum that questions posed like this are pointless. There are at least two serious avenues of attack that materials scientists and engineers know as mechanisms of damage, and of course there's plenty of documented evidence of worn barrels from poor cleaning...

What drives lot to lot variation performance in a 22LR?

Byron is the closest to the issue. A lot is a run, and a run is a run. What's that mean? Anything. At the end of a run anything and everything can change. Sure, they could just load up another run with the same stuff, load a new hopper of the same powder, etc and it'll be very close (humidity...

Tools/gauges for Aligning Hand guard and upper perfect? I’m

Usually just do normal machine tool processes. Use straight edges on the corresponding surfaces and so on. But if the rails aren't lining up perfectly, agree with Zak that just getting it close then clamping on a reasonably quality spare railgrabber to bridge the two (and inspect that it is on...

    How many mags per weapon...

Hobby guns, things that are fun to have and I am not serious about all have the baseline 4 (or that's the goal, a few have 2 or 3 so far). Mostly otherwise I want enough to get through a range day with little or no reloading. I mean a match day or a reasonable round count class. So for the...

Use a MagPul CTR with a rear bag

Looks great! Wish this existed when I finagled mine. Might even replace mine someday it looks so nice.

Use a MagPul CTR with a rear bag

Well, just bandsawed and so on, as it's kydex and phenolic, but yes made it. No, never made an aluminum one. I suspect someone should start 3D printing a better (fewer screws, click into the notches on the side of the stock) one for us all.

Use a MagPul CTR with a rear bag

On the bolt gun? I don't even think it's MLOK, is the XLR one, attached by bolting to specific corresponding holes on the XLR Element v1 stock shown. If you see another picture of it somewhere later where it has a side rail, that's me finagling the system, I machined stuff for that to happen.

Thoughts on pricing used custom rifles?

Agree with the above for the OP's gun specifically: That's not "custom" but just configured /a bit/ uniquely. If you didn't tell anyone it was uniquely specified, they'd just wonder when that was a cataloged gun. Made at GAP, I'd 1000% not part it out. Much of the value is that a shop with a...

How important is Muzzle Brake Timing?

If you are getting stuff custom cut anyway, you give the muzzle device to the barrel threading guy, he cuts the shoulder to match and you just crank it on till straight. Check torque, but if he's any good, you are solid. (I never never rocksett etc. Proper torque is plenty, even for...

    Headshot....Argument for a LPVO???......real life example....

To the various complaints about the dot being un-crisp to their old eyes, or when magnified: Better optics are better. Not all RDS are the same. I have fully bad eyes. As in I don't just have astigmatism, I have everything. The little RX card from the eye doctor? I have numbers in ALL the...

    Headshot....Argument for a LPVO???......real life example....

All I can say is: Yes. I mean, there are still whole agencies who zero carbines at 7 (not kidding, not a typo) yards so some people cannot be gotten to. But for those serious about threats they may have to address: yes. RDS only is for those who are happy they finally shot their carbine at...
