    Headshot....Argument for a LPVO???......real life example....

I mostly do RDS+magnifier, to good effect. Never go to war but have used it FOF at even a couple hundred yards so got to try it on actual people and through woods etc. I've happened into a perfectly good and modern daylight bright 1-6 and have for a few months been running it on my 8" 9mm for...

    Headshot....Argument for a LPVO???......real life example....

Just to make sure the argument is straight, I've never seen anyone legitimately pose this as RDS vs LPVO. It's RDS + Magnifier vs Daylight-bright LPVO (And then the Elcan Spectre DR guys come in also!) A flip-to-side magnifier (or similar, the flip down like Unity 1.93) gives you at least...

Spotters Bullet trace, how far can you see it?

As above. It takes experience to know what to pick out from the other distortions, and of course the background, but I've personally seen trace at a mile when helping spot for some others. This was however pretty optimal conditions, very sunny, consistent wind (at each range) and sloping open...

Have had both. Length and weight is the biggest deal. I went with the bigger one for my one application as it was within a fraction of an inch of the length of my previous 4-16x scope, so the clipon worked still but it is a big scope, so not all guns will have that much rail space. Weight as...

Cleaned my lenses, now I think they’re ruined?

One of the times I broke the filter and would have broken the lens was inside a children's museum. Trying to keep up with the kid, hit my head on a low door (in an old factory so the header was an I-beam) and fully saw stars, next thing I am on the floor. That is not a place I'd consider to be...

Cleaned my lenses, now I think they’re ruined?

Same as @Rust for sacrifical lenses on most everything. I have smashed sac lenses on cameras, happy I didn't smash the camera. Well, those times :) So my high dollar stuff, say night vision, always has front and rear covers. Wish I could get the same for thermal even with the cost that...

Need a backpack for air travel. Maxpedition, or??

Traveled between 25 and 100% for much of the last 15 years (though now settled, wfh and not even a consultant, I have a JOB!) and carried a lot of things. I have Opinions on luggage etc. My extra bag, esp for tourism with family etc to be on my back and under the seat if not all fits in the...

I mean they make (at least) the M7xi in 2.9-20 and the 4-30 with the Tremor 3 as an option so unless they think people will pay double the price just to upgrade reticles that indeed seems a weird choice. Maybe it's coming later?

I have not really liked any LPVOs before this one. Not a LOT of experience (I mostly use RDS+FTS-magnifier) but it works for me. (I have or have had to my memory, 1-4x Steiner Military, 1-4x USO SR4, 1-8 Accupower, and have shot over a few others to try them out). Currently the 1-6x T6 is on a...

Which scope exactly (old school capital-M Military or an M-series modern one with numbers?) and any link to this. I'm not especially nice to my stuff (as I use it in all wx, stuff it in the pack and hike across bad terrain with it etc) and have definitely for sure had a 24" bolt gun fall on...

    50 yard zero

Edit: I confused the OP with a response... Why do you have such a short gun, with a folding stock? If there is a reason, tell us what it is so we can advise. The rear sight needs to go ALL the way to the back. The front sight needs to be more forward. If it has to be back this far, and...

Good solvents and cleaning procedure for ar15’s?

You really do not need to clean them much. Here's an article on a carbine used as a loaner for classes that was still running over 30,000 rounds with (almost entirely) just applying lube as needed. https://bravocompanyusa.com/content/Filthy%2014%20bravo_swat_10.pdf I use Ballistol mostly for a...

Suppressors Suppressor companies- test fire before shipping?

Not for NFA stuff, but I have had a few transfers of weird stuff at a place with an attached range where the LGS guys sheepishly asked if they could shoot it, and I did let them under supervision. Otherwise, yeah... no. Not really theirs (some get confused about ownership vs possession) and...

Night Vision phenom? nox? pulsar? mh25? other?

And I've seen one or two that tried to solve that, with modularity. E.g., change lenses front and back. But rapidly you aren't an all in one unit, but are carrying a bag with half a dozen fussy modules so it's not exactly 30 seconds to unclip from the rifle and stick on your head.

Night Vision phenom? nox? pulsar? mh25? other?

Oh, I absolutely have a phoria, do not own (day) binoculars etc. It doesn't always work right but if dialed in it can be awesome. Magic. Worst case is I close one eye to really see the image in the thermal but the adjustable bridge, really careful focus, and getting the brightness and color...

Night Vision phenom? nox? pulsar? mh25? other?

Oh I don't get the dual-thermal people at all. Maybe it's good for sitting still and spotting but for walking around, thermal can make things look odd so it is very helpful to have an image intensified view also. I like my bridged setup... a lot.

Night Vision phenom? nox? pulsar? mh25? other?

Sigh. I have just been thinking (as I lightweight everything else) how heavy my NOX18 is. Otherwise lovely, but heavy. The 640-Breach is going to make me poor, isn't it? Anyway, as far as the OPs question (I know it was long ago, but still) on a pocketscope (why do you all call these...

Safe to order Pulsar XP 50 Pro from Amazon?

I know lots of legit storefronts and even manufacturers also have eBay stores (use them a lot for clearance etc) but I wonder if some of our reputable dealers also sell via Amazon so you get for sure what you want, but it goes via your required delivery method.

    Night Vision TNVC "Supergain" Tubes

Maybe dumb question: Does anyone know what's in latest-issue ANVIS for US Army Aviation? Reason is: friend's (deployed) unit has both green and semi-recently, white. No other specs available even when asked. Just pick green or white when asking for gear to go fly. And after trying the white...

Can't get good eye relief prone on LPVO

Just to +1: that is how optics work. Set up for proper eye relief stock-out in prone, should be a nice 1-2 clicks out when offhand. As a general rule you'll be 1x offhand, magnified in prone, so there is some leeway in the eye box at 1x and that helps a lot also. This sort of thing can be a...
