Any tips progressive eyeglasses wearers and scopes?

Yeah, first of all even with correction, the diopter adjustment on my scopes is nearly at the end stop. Not sure what is going on optically, but even fresh out of the eye doc, new good glasses: all my scopes need adjustment. I also pretty much cannot use things like ACOG with fixed eyepieces...

Any tips progressive eyeglasses wearers and scopes?

Total consistency. I can muddle through with RDSs, magnifiers, and LPVOs up to 8x with indifferent form, get good hits to as far as 600 yds on weird positions etc. For real precision, for 900 yds and out, etc I found that my earpro and my glasses messed with me and I just need to practice to...

    Steiner T6xi

Ended up with the 5-30, largely because it was in stock and the other things on my list were not. #5124, 5-30x56mm MSR2-MIL Only had it out shooting a little, and not side by side with anything else comparable (some good scopes but lower power) but seems basically as good as my previous one...

    Red Dot Magnifiers

The EO G.33 is the way. Used a bunch, only own EoTech magnifiers (and I have several, like RDS+magnifier, few LPVOs here). Agree hard that the magnifier will expose flaws in the RDS, optics and dot. Getting a good magnifier will cost you even more eventually :)

    K&M M17s Bullpup UPDATE

Update: you have to clean it /sometimes/. Once dialed in and with ammo it likes, runs like a top, but I am somewhere over 500 rounds (maybe a lot more, I don't log this gun) and all of a sudden, won't fire two rounds in a row. Naturally a day I brought friends to the range. Got home and...

    D R A K E N B U R G | advance precision rifle system

800 gr? I guess if you are too recoil sensitive, only want to use the lightweight bullets in your .50 BLK.

    Steiner T6xi

See, I knew I shouldn't have asked you all, now I see there's a 5-30x56, and while getting big my old scope was HUGE, so this is still a touch shorter, it'll fit even with the clipon. Just pay an extra $600 and that's sadly not so outrageously more money as to make me default to no. Drat. Now...

    Steiner T6xi

Help me, T6 people. I don't buy scopes that often, so am not up on things, and this seems the most relevant place: The old Steiner Military 4-16x50 on my PSS has lost illum. Sent for warranty repair: Not repairable, and old enough scope it is not replaceable, but they are giving me two options...

Aviation Guys - Which plane does this belong to?

Oh fine, I guess I am with a crowd that doesn't know about the Credible Sport C130, follow on from Eagle Claw failure: Not just crazy extra JATO to take off in a football stadium, but to STOP in the same space. Crash shown a lot is a bug or maybe a human error from the quick-and-dirty...

Aviation Guys - Which plane does this belong to?

Used to be used for all sorts of things. B47s had a bank of them built into the fuselage so the nuclear alert aicraft could get in the air faster. They are not used anymore because they are wickedly dangerous if the slightest thing goes wrong, and aircraft are generally better. Alert aircraft...

    US made water bottle

Some Camelbak products are made in the US (government contracts). I have had bottles made in the US, not just bladders, so worth asking, looking, which are. I like all my bottles from them. Various countries of origin. Yup to the above: Nalgene is 100% US except... for their two stainless...

Robinson Armament XCR-M...what am I missing?

Strong agree. We've seen all-in-one stuff before, and technology doesn't always go at the same pace. Seen e.g. any number of perfectly good lasers with lights that are a joke anymore. And there are specialty items of all sorts that will continue to be created, even more may emerge as more...

    Clip on thermal/scanner?

Budget, budget, budget. Clipons always need a magnifier to work standalone. You can finagle it (I have) but it's pretty bulky then usually. A pretty slick solution is the TIG-IR, like this one for sale (not mine, but I'd love to have it) which even includes the rear lens adapter to make it...

    Mountain lion in IL

Dunno how official, but got a response from the DNR and that guy at least believes it. We've got big cats on the edge of the big cities, at least. Friend of the wife's whose house is WAY inside the burbs but backs up to a wild creekbed 200 yds x 1.5 miles /insists/ they had a big cat living...

Are there any AR 15’s made that you can count on shooting half MOA

Yup, one single 3 shot group is always how I judge all my guns. 200 yds, so 0.23 MOA when math done. By this measure, a 16" Sabre with Armscor 62 gr ball fired offhand prone (no bag) monopodding off the mag, RDS + 3x magnifier, is the highest precision gun I own. Earlier this year I was...

    Mountain lion in IL

Kansas has the same tale, the big cats were all killed like 100 years ago, and up till pretty recently, nope, no cats for sure. Until year before last when someone in an eastern city got a cougar walking by on their suburban doorbell camera, now take verifiable (footprints, photos) reports...

I just want a box or three of M995. Now THAT is hard to find stuff.

    SAPI or Shooter?

This is important stuff. Find your collarbone, check that you are wearing the plate high enough. Almost no one (and I mean even deployed military) does because it's a pain, hard to get your head through the hole at the top, etc.

Help with identifying a FN FAL

Asserting it is NEW or that HE has not fired it? Because it's been fired more than just factory test. Not a lot I tend to say, but definitely at least a couple hundred rounds.
