    Lapua 7mm

Thanks for posting. Lapua must've very recently updated that info. I'm kinda bummed about that BC. I was really hoping for a solid .55 or .56, and keeping my fingers crossed for .58. Considering these are ~45¢ each, I think there are better options out there for most medium-and-higher power...

    HellCat !!!

What's funny is I am very well versed in engine and OBD calibration - but I love carburetion! Especially multiple carburetion! A Holley with double pumps is an awesome thing. I think a large part of why carbs have gotten a bad name over the years is, just like camshaft profiles, people go WAY...

    HellCat !!!

Yes. They are excellent, as is Chrysler's 5.7/6.1/6.2/6.4 "Hemi" platform. Ford's 6.2L is also great but the jury is still out on the new 5.0L "Coyote". I embraced the 4.6 and 5.4 OHC Ford engines for years but in the end, they honestly were dogs. Bore size is really small and it's difficult to...

AW vs AICS Magazines - Preference or Performance?

Also, bear in mind AW magazines are less versatile than AICS. Cartridges dissimilar to 308 should be carefully considered before running in AWs. Examples: 22-250 have so much body taper, they fit loosely and wiggle around. 284 flat out doesn't fit. 243/260/7mm08 Ackleys shoulder will rub on the...

AW vs AICS Magazines - Preference or Performance?

I've heard internet chatter of AW magazines "erupting" cartridges out unexpectedly, but I've not seen it. Rumor is when "slamming" magazine into the mag well will cause it, but even trying to make it happen, I've not been able to duplicate the concern. I HAVE ever dropped a loaded AW and had a...

""Best"" "other" caliber for .308 AT rifle?

Precisely why I advocate 7mm08 and 7mm Creedmoor - in terms of exterior ballistics/trajectory, it's a wash between them and their 6.5mm counterparts, yet they provide a sizeable increase in barrel life. You pay for that increase with a bit more recoil.

    171 match burner for 7mm-08

I've found them to be very finicky on seating depth - in both rifles I've tried them in.

I'd be in for a T2, T6 or T4 (in the order of my preference).

Suppressors TBAC 30p-1 will not thread on, please help!

Is there an echo in here? Also, a pitch mic isn't much help for inspecting internal threads.

""Best"" "other" caliber for .308 AT rifle?

A 6.5 Creedmoor would definitely be the easiest choice based on the availability/price of match grade factory ammo. It will handily outperform 308, as will all the other short-action 6mm, 6.5 and 7mm cartridges. Because you mentioned "barrel eating", I'd suggest you stay away from the 6mms...

Rifle Scopes 2014's Best Scope ShootOut

Thanks for the correction - I fat fingered the "2562" instead of the correct 2462, and did not use correct formula for "percentage increase". I also used the 3.14 approximation for pi. Still, another way to consider the difference in objective lens square area (which is HUGE in terms of optical...

Rifle Scopes 2014's Best Scope ShootOut

    To put things in perspective here: Objective lens surface area: 42mm : 1385mm^2 50mm : 1963mm^2 56mm : 2562mm^2 That means a 56mm obj has an 85% advantage over a 42mm obj, but only a 30% advantage over the 50mm.

    Range Report Boat-tail backward ballistics

I used to hate gin, but one night at the bar I got a hankering for a G&T, no idea why. Thus began "the summer of Gin" for me. I've eased back a LOT since then, but I sure do love me a G&T fixed 50/50 with New Amsterdam/Schweppes's and a 1/4 slice of lime. Love some Whiskey too, but nothing...

No butthook is better, for the reason you mentioned.

Dunno what speeds you're referring to, but I've been ~150mph in a 6.4L Challenger (legally on closed course) and it was rock fucking solid. Felt about the same as 80mph.
