    Precisely why I advocate 7mm08 and 7mm Creedmoor - in terms of exterior ballistics/trajectory, it's a wash between them and their 6.5mm counterparts, yet they provide a sizeable increase in barrel life. You pay for that increase with a bit more recoil.

    To put things in perspective here: Objective lens surface area: 42mm : 1385mm^2 50mm : 1963mm^2 56mm : 2562mm^2 That means a 56mm obj has an 85% advantage over a 42mm obj, but only a 30% advantage over the 50mm.

    Dunno what speeds you're referring to, but I've been ~150mph in a 6.4L Challenger (legally on closed course) and it was rock fucking solid. Felt about the same as 80mph.
