    How about a gardening thread?

I was thinking of doing something similar to you with some free pallets but I am also including kitchen scraps and didnt want to worry about my dogs or wildlife being attracted to it and it getting eaten or scattered.

Best option for mounting a sling to my AR?

2 point slings are generally better suited for general purpose work. they allow better control of the rifle. i like a 1 point when doing anything in CQB like clearing buildings and such because it allows more movement of the rifle from right to left if need be, however when left dangling the one...

Best option for mounting a sling to my AR?

if the $60 is too expensive for you, go old school with some 550 cord loops on the stock. I did it for years in the military. if you are right handed and put the buttstock sling attachment on the right side of the stock, you will have it lay flat better pulling the stock in with the sling...

    How about a gardening thread?

I put in quite a few pickle cucumber plants this year but have never made pickles. I figured I would start researching when it got closer but does anyone here have any pickle canning recipes? I am also starting a compost pile with my kitchen scraps. will be adding this to composted horse manure...

    30-06 Precision Rigs

this is a big part of my thought process as well. after 10 years in the military and a desire for a tactical arsenal, I got to love the 308 in the m14 and have stuck with it in bolt actions as well but lately I have taken a step back from the battle rifles and such and have decided to slow down...

Multi-Purpose Bipod + Where to buy it?

For hunting and field use, you may consider the 9-13" version depending on terrain but I agree that swivel and notched legs are the way to go. I have a 6-9" notched leg, non swivel version I will be swapping out as soon as I can.

    30-06 Precision Rigs

Ghostface - thats the same reasons ive been looking at 30-06. "will cover 90% of what a 300 win mag will do without the extra muzzle blast, recoil, and short barrel life" is the way it was described to me. Willyz54 - nice rifle, thanks for posting. asbestosglove - if you can, i would love to...

    30-06 Precision Rigs

I am really wanting to build a Remington 700 in 30-06 and have read more about a resurgence of popularity amongst some, maybe im just researching more :) I am just somewhat hesitant about selling the 308 I have now but couldn't afford to keep both right now and would like to get rid of the...

Help Deciding on Cartridge for Savage 110 Precision Build

The sporter barrels usually do ok for a few rounds at most before heat starts its effect on them. A heavier barrel will help with that a bit. As far as 30-06 is concerned, my next build is going to be a m24 clone in 30-06. It was described to me as able to do 90% of what a 300 win mag can do...

Help Deciding on Cartridge for Savage 110 Precision Build

I would swap the bolt head and do a heavy barrel 30-06. Should get you what you're looking for. Just shy of the 300 win mag with warm hand loads. It is going to be my next project.

    .308 Afghanistan

for out of the box rifles, the Remington 700 AAC-SD is my favorite so far. I also liked my 5R milspec and currently have a savage 10FCP-SR. I would have a family member go buy a rifle for me if I could find a good deal on one but you may not want to rush it much and get your hands on a couple...

    Handguard/Bipod Recommendations

I had a YHM customizable free float rifle length tube on my last AR15 build and didn't care for it. the thing would come loose occasionally and I had one of the holes in the barrel nut break out on me while trying to torque it down properly. YMMV but on a target rifle I wanted to be competitive...
