    ++Bighorn TL3 Builds++

    Thanks guys! The matching heavy gun has been getting quite a lot of use as a loaner, which was 1/3 of the reason I'd built it (also for practice and as a backup). In the four matches since I got it put together it's been used by others in three! I'm glad to have a quality platform to hand...

    ++Bighorn TL3 Builds++

    ***Been meaning to drop something like this here for a while, wrote this in response to a question elsewhere and decided it was time. Thank you to the Bighorn crew for offering actions that allow this type of system to be so flexible!*** I've owned quite a few bolt actions in the last 11...

    Any feedback on Norma 6mm Dasher brass?

    If you use it in a Lapua chamber trimming is mandatory to function. I've got some going in a chamber with a .272" neck, and it is behaving alright without any neck turning, which I'd avoid at all costs. If you have brass from the first batch you MAY need a special shellholder, which I believe...

    6.5 4s/PRC vs 300wm for PRS ELR

    One of our local guys has shot the Wyoming match both years using a 6.5 SAUM. He placed decently. IIRC he mentioned something like 5 of the top 10 were running 6.5's this year. Were I to shoot it I'd use either a 6.5 or 7 SAUM (or PRC if you want, close enough to be interchangeable I think)...

    6 dasher mag help

    I've got two TL3 Dashers in MPA's. My go to mag is a AICS 10 rd with a Primal Rights kit. The mag lips are tweaked out on the forward edge. The spacer is glued in, and I've got a +2 Seekins base plate. I also removed the binder plate for extra OAL running Sierra 110's with a longer throat...

    Ways to raise velocity from established load?

    Your brass is likely quite loose in your chamber, which can cause pressure signs by itself. I assume a bolt closes without resistance on fired brass? If so, the scotch tape trick spife mentioned isn't the worst place to start, It's roughly .002" per layer of tape. This should give you a clue...

    Still in love with Criterion

    Gotta be nice when you’re favorite is also cost effective and especially convenient. I don’t know that I’ll ever go 100% NSS prefits, but of the four centerfire barrels I have in service now, they provided three...

    Ways to raise velocity from established load?

    Your load is pretty soft, your pressure signs aren’t coming from too much powder. That combo should get you in the 2650-2700 neighborhood, if you take it to full pressure. Possibly you have excess headspace on your brass, how are you adjusting your sizing die? Also, is this a factory chamber?

    Alpha Dasher Brass

    Since there already doing 6.5 Creed, adding the 6 should be simpler and cheaper than something completely different, by a lot I bet. I can predict with a high degree of accuracy who goes through more brass between Dasher shooter and SAUM shooters!

    Alpha Dasher Brass

    While my formed Lapua brass is great, assuming quality, dimensions, and cost were comparable to Lapua, I'd switch to avoid forming. In addition, there has been a decided lack of Lapua 6BR cases on store shelves... I've got my fingers crossed that Alpha pulls the trigger.

    PRS Talk dry fireing method

    For sure! But I don’t bother taking it to the range for live fire if it isn’t consistent with the dummies.

    PRS Talk dry fireing method

    95% empty chamber, occasionally I’ll use some dummy rounds with empty primer pockets if I also want to proof a magazine.

    6.5 vs 6 creedmoor whats am i gaining?

    With similarly aggressive bullets the wind drift of equal capacity 6mm's and 6.5mm's is almost identical. The 6 will have a slight edge in drop, but it rarely mattes much. Depending on the bullet line you're shooting, there can be some money saved on projectiles with a 6mm to help balance out...

    Who here has pointed bullets?

    It may seem counter-intuitive, but in my experience the “pointier” bullets pointed better. I could be wrong but I doubt you’ll see a big improvement in the 139’s. I also sold my pointing die after a couple of years pointing Hybrids, I got tired of the extra step.

    Rifle Scopes Dissapointed in my Bushnell DMR2!!!

    Getting a lemon would indeed suck. I’ve had it happen before (not with Bushnell) and wasn’t happy about it either. I’m more referring to the idea that there are numerous better options in the $1000 range, if there are I haven’t seen them. And I’ve used many of the popular options. It also...

    Rifle Scopes Dissapointed in my Bushnell DMR2!!!

    I’m a little surprised at all the negative comments as well. I’ve run first a DMR and more recently an HDMR II almost exclusively for the last 5 years of competition. I did use a 3-18 Gen II Razor briefly, but switched back to the Bushnells. I bought both used, and despite plenty of abuse...

    Rifle Scopes Vortex AMG new reticle??

    I've said before, if you let 100 long range shooters design a reticle, you'd get 100 different reticles. And the next day they'd all have something to change! While I don't think this new 7b is perfect to me, I do think it's the best (for my preferences) of any reticle I've seen. If that's...

    6.5 Creedmoor brass no longer chambers

    I'd find a case that's tight after sizing (sounds like you have plenty), give it a 100% coverage Sharpie marker job, chamber it, and see where your interference is originating. If it's on the face of the shoulder, you can just bump the shoulder more. If it's the shoulder diameter or the base...

    Scales scales scales... tell me about your scale!

    Sheldon, I do all my loading on a Hornady progressive one of two ways, either "full auto" running a decap die-prime-size-mandrel-charge station (funnel)-seat all at once, or more often I separate into two runs of decap-prime-size-mandrel and a separate charge-seat. So not exactly what you're...

    Messed Up 223 Trainer Build

    I had a stainless varmint and a stainless lite, they shot they same loads virtually identically. They wouldn't shoot like my custom Dashers, but plenty good enough to be valuable for a trainer. Sub-moa by a skosh for 10 rds with about every combo I tried, 50 vmax, 75 Amax, 77 SMK and any...
