    12x Binos vs 15x Binos

    A couple of years ago I picked up a Swaro “match support package” from our local rep with 12x EL’s, 15x SLC’s, and a couple 80mm spotters. I took the opportunity to spend a couple hours comparing that batch of glass off my deck. I’ve owned two pairs of Leica Ultravids and a pair of SLC’s, and...

    12x Binos vs 15x Binos

    I’ve used my 12’s for spotting the little 6mm’s in some pretty iffy conditions out to 1200. While I won’t ever argue they’re the best tool for THAT job, they still pulled it off, which impressed me.

    ++Bighorn TL3 Builds++

    Get a bottle of red Loktite and “shoulder” them up! I have done this on more barrels than not in my TL3 quiver.

    ++Bighorn TL3 Builds++

    I'm at three actions and seven chambered barrels, with three blanks waiting for a reamer. There is a dedicated comp rifle, a backup that's a bit lighter which serves the role of a 'tweener, and a sporter weight rifle for hunting.

    While not flanged, it is drilled to take #10 screws or common construction screws, so that you can bench mount it if you like.

    *** Special thanks to hide member reubenski who's setup with barrel flats inspired this rabbit hole. *** The last couple of years I've moved to a modular rifle system that uses Bighorn actions and a pile of interchangeable barrels in various chamberings and states of wear. The weak link in all...

    12x Binos vs 15x Binos

    I guess I’ll be the dissenting opinion. I use the Cabelas branded Meopta HD 12x50’s for match use (including being a squad RO) and I love them. I’ve used the Swaro 15’s, and they are great as well. At this glass quality I think they both work very well for the purpose. I initially got 12’s as...

    Go to Prefits?

    Having used most of the popular prefit providers, I can strongly recommend NSS and Greg at Bugholes. If NSS has a Criterion in stock in the configuration (chambering/twist/freebore/contour) you want, you can have it in a few days and it’ll probably shoot great. Greg has a little longer lead...

    Round count: Switch Barrels?

    I track the barrels, and have been keeping track via the number of firings on a batch of brass slated to that barrel. As I run larger lots of brass, I can see wanting to use them on multiple barrels at once and may switch up my method. One thought has been using a hash mark filed into the...

    PRS Talk Movers on PRS stages

    1. Usually but not always. In the matches I’ve shot there are more 3 mph movers than not. If you want to get fancy you could measure the speed with a stopwatch and an optic with a reticle. On a 3 mph mover, 1.5 mils is a pretty good first pitch, maybe 1.2 or 1.3 if you’re near the velocity...

    Binocular Question

    Good to hear the Leupolds are solid, it’s nice to have quality options, and it’s pretty hard going backwards in glass once you’re used to the good stuff :) I’ve been using 12x50 Meopta Meostar HD’s (the Cabelas version in my case) and love them. If I look through them all day, every other bino...

    Switch Barrel Set Up Pros and Cons

    Ledzep, When you say +/- 0.2 mil, does that mean that you are roughly 0.2 mil in some direction off your previous zero with that barrel? Thanks, Carl

    Nucleus and TL3 availability.

    Between the Nucleus and the TL3, the TL3 has an integral recoil lug, a higher end finish, and current availability of both the action and various parts for the action (rails, bolt faces, action wrenches, etc). In addition, the TL3 is a known quantity with the bugs worked out. To be fair, I'm...

    CLYKE POD

    Ckye mentioned to me that the long legs will swap out with the standard legs such that you wouldn't have to buy (or carry) a whole new bipod, no hard date though.

    Tikka and Howa BugNuts

    Glad to see you expanding the offerings! I ordered a 6 Dasher barrel with a Bugnut the first week you announced them, and have retired that barrel after wearing it out. I’ve been pleased with the system and the service both, and have recommended it numerous times. I personally loctited my nut...

    Brake on a Trainer?

    I have the 223-unbroke/Dasher-broke combo and find the recoil impulses similar. I do lots of dry fire for position practice, when going live fire one of the things I’m focusing on most is spotting impacts well. I appreciate them feeling pretty close.
