    To anneal or not

    I anneal every time. Last year got over 20+ loads on a hot 200g FTR .308 load in a Lapua SRP case. For me the primer pockets go south before the necks do.

    Savage Kaboom at Local Range

    I have 2 stainless dual port Savage actions I use for FTR competition that I shoot at pressures most people shooting a .308 would cringe at. However, we all do it in FTR, Either that was a POS action that was a problem to begin with, or a handloading cluster F!

    For only 200 yards you can probably use any brass. Just sort by head stamp and don't mix same time shooting.

    My son just said this earlier. Not going to end well for them if they push the tranny agenda in Nashville. If they want to assemble, not going to happen. Sorry you don't have a permit etc. There will be a tremendous amount of pushback to the agenda by F'ing normal people.

    Barrel life on 6.5CM vs. .308

    Not in FTR competition. As I said depends on application. In FTR we are shooting for a 5" X at 1,000 yards for 60 shots + sighters. A worn barrel shows itself on X count pretty quick when it goes south.

    Depends on the application. A hunting rifle .308 probably will last darn near forever. I know from my personal observation, a competitive FTR gun (.308) with even the best barrel, accuracy starts dropping around 2,500 rounds. 3,000 and X count is dropping. I change at 2,000 - 2,500 depending...

    Actually chrono'd bunch of JSB and H&N couple years ago when I was seeing what my .22 pellet rifle liked. Just like my FTR rifle, it liked slow and heavy. :)

    Cheaper alternative to lapua 223 brass???

    I use Starlight for service rifle matches. Case volume is more consistent than LC from what I have seen.

    Difference is. We have .50 BMG. NVG and Thermals. :)
