    Gunsmithing Protecting Ideas and Designs

Re: Protecting Ideas and Designs I just asked my wife as she deals with patents quite a bit. She said if you have it written out and documented and signed and dated then have a witness sign it that will work. Although she did say that going through court to prove otherwise is not only a pain...

    Gunsmithing Savage Bedding Project

Re: Savage Bedding Project I would like to add that I did not bed from the rear action screw back. This is partly why I wanted to post a bedding job for a savage. IMO a Savage should have the rear of the action bolt and tang completely floated. I have tried several different options partially...

    Gunsmithing Savage Bedding Project

So I thought I would share a bedding project I just did for a Savage since most of what we see is bedding for Remmys. Please feel free to share any other tips or comments as I am not saying this is the best or only way to do it. This is just the way I do it and what has worked for me. I am...

Savage Model 10 .308 Sear problem!!!

Re: Savage Model 10 .308 Sear problem!!! I have seen on the accutriggers where the sear and the notch on the front of the trigger does not even come close to making contact to catch if the spring tension is set to low on an accutrigger. I have seen as much as a 1/16 gap between the two so...

Gunsmithing Worth it or not? Blueprinting a savage

Re: Worth it or not? Blueprinting a savage I will add that a good trigger, barrel and recoil lug also helps as well. I am not really a fan of the accutrigger. Keep in mind that you can have the action blueprinted and everything else perfect but the stick is only as good as the barrel.

Gunsmithing Worth it or not? Blueprinting a savage

Re: Worth it or not? Blueprinting a savage I agree with a Savage I typically dont blueprint the action. However I do lap the lugs as I have seen several with only about 10% contact. This is a fairly simple process that you can do yourself. Bedding the action and lapping the lugs, and you...

Advanced Marksmanship Muzzle recoils to left.

Re: Muzzle recoils to left. VMAN as Greg stated, if you are using a bipod, are you loading your bipod? Are you seeing a lot of hop, what type of surface are you shooting on if you are using a bipod?

    Savage 110BA 338 Lapua

Re: Savage 110BA 338 Lapua Thanks DUB19K, I think they are fairly similar I would love to see what you think about the 308 version. I am really wondering what the options are for this stick. I am in the middle of a 338 Edge build but the 110BA sounds like it maybe worth the $ but then again I...

Advanced Marksmanship Muzzle recoils to left.

Re: Muzzle recoils to left. VMAN, I would say check your natural point of aim to make sure that you are not slightly off.Try adjusting slightly to see if you can get it closer. Are you shooting prone or from a bench, bipod or bag?

Gunsmithing Worth it or not? Blueprinting a savage

Re: Worth it or not? Blueprinting a savage If you are going to bed it yourself, bedding a Savage is not the same as bedding a Remington. The Tang area needs to be free floated so do not bed past the rear action bolt. This allows the rear tang and area on each side of the trigger to free...

    Range Report 155 or 175 ?

Re: 155 or 175 ? I suggest you try both and do a work up and ladder test to see what your riffle likes. Every riffle is different. Personally I like the 175 right now as that is what my stick likes. However I may buy a new stick tomorrow and end up shooting 155, 185, or even 208. I let the...

Re: Let's solve this savage dbm problem Spoon, you mentioned a Choate stock, I have one laying around here somewhere. I was considering ordering a CDI anyway. Were you saying you think it would work on the Choate stock? I was planning on using it on my McMillan A5 but after reading this...

    1000+ Range in STL MO

I have been looking for a 1000 yard range in the ST Louis MO area and have not been able to find anything beyond 600. I have been thinking about building a 1000-1200 yard shooting area on one of the farms I lease. I have not yet talked to the land owner about it yet. I wanted to see if anyone...
