    Decent Safe for under $1000

Like mentioned above if you watch the sales at Tractor Supply different times of the year they drop them really low. I bought a Fat Boy for 599.00 a few years ago. I watched it drop to 999 then to 799 and when it hit 599 I bought it. Now I wish I had bought 3. They run really good sales after...

    Gunsmithing Barrel blanks ?

Basically Krieger cuts the rifling in the barrel and sells the barrel as a "blank". A blank is no chamber cut, no tennon threads, no muzzle threads. Your smith had to cut the tennon, cut the shoulder for the recoil lug and single point for bolt nose clearance then cut chamber and head space. In...

    Broughton or Hart or Schneider?

This is going to be one of those topics.... Check runout of any of those mentioned barrels across 24-28" or whatever the length of the barrel. If you have have chucked one up in a lathe and seen the runout of one of these barrels you would not be asking this question. Average runout for a...

    Nikon 82mm Fieldscope & Pentax PF80ED?

Pentax also had a PF100ED for a limited time. It was even better but supposedly they did not sell many of them and they discontinued them. If you could find one of the PF100's for sale used that would be a solid choice for sure.

    Nikon 82mm Fieldscope & Pentax PF80ED?

I will add that I am very picky about spotters because most spotters are not as good as my S&B on my rifle so with that said the Pentax, Zeiss spotter 60 or Vortex Razor HD would all be good choices. My first pick would be the spotter 60 but it is more money.

    Nikon 82mm Fieldscope & Pentax PF80ED?

I can say I have used the Pentax and had no problems spotting holes on paper at 600. Very good glass and top notch for the money.

    Gunsmithing Cleaning Crown Carbon???

Dont worry about it, most brakes never get removed the life of the barrel. If it really bothers you pick up some Flitz and just take your time. You can do more harm trying to clean your crown than just leaving it.

Gunsmithing Smallest conceivable lathe for barrel work..

When it comes to barrel work and precision work mass plays a big part. This is why I would never consider a Grizzly, Jet, Enco etc for chambering etc. A good friend of mine just purchased a KBC brand lathe looks just like a Grizzly (spent aprox 8k) in the first 2 months he had a plastic gear go...

    Broughton or Hart or Schneider?

All the barrels mentioned a good quality barrels but why not consider what is considered the best barrels in this community Bartlein or Rock? I have built a lot of rifles and chambered several different barrels for people. From the smith side I would only choose Bartlein or Rock. From the...

    Carring rifle during competition

You can use it if you like, I have one but never seem to use my eberle in matches because its so big and bulky and makes you tend to pack to much. No reason why you cant use it though.

Yes you you can open it up with a dremel if that is all you have. Just go slow, make sure you have enough clearance and you should be GTG. Good luck

    Gunsmithing Problem with Manners T4

Check to see if you have clearance for your trigger. With the Timney you may need to open it up about 100 thou.

    Rifle Build Suggestions

Go to a match and look around and see how many 308 or 300wm's people are shooting. You probably wont see one. Why because they are at such a disadvantage they may as well be shooting a 17 HMR compared to the 6, 6.5, and 7's. Multiply wind calls X 3 or more depending. You can get 260 or 6.5 creed...

    Gunsmithing Tig Welding for Gunsmithing

Tig will save your ass machining when you fuck up and have to fix it. Gunsmithing it comes in handy, especially on things like installing bolt knob on Remington and turning bolt down to find a big ass inclusion from cast bolt knob. I build a lot of guns, I dont tig but my buddy does and I have...

    Pentax PF 80ED

I shoot with a guy that has one, I would compare it to the Razor HD or the Zeiss spotter 60. Very good glass, can easily see 6.5mm holes on paper at 600. It is a little on the big side but for a range spotter its a great piece of equipment.
