    Gunsmithing Pink Cerakote suggestions

With Pink you will get a better pop of color with a base like white. If you dont paint a lighter color base color first you will end up with same thickness by having to lay down a heavier coat anyway. Best to go with a white first. As much as I hate to admit I have both prison pink and bright...

    Gunsmithing Switch barrel anti seize

Any will work well, just make sure and not apply to much and make sure you dont have excess push to against the recoil lug. A little dab will do ya.

Building a rifle, need trigger suggestion

It all depends on what you want to do with it. Is this a rifle to just shoot at the range? Is this going to be an F class or bench gun? Is this a tactical match rifle, will you be hunting with it? To me all these questions are very important on what trigger you choose and what weight you set it...

Rifle Scopes Looking for Low 1 pc. quick detach 34mm mount

I did some digging on the same thing a while back, the shortest out there is like 1.12". I went as far as asking what it would take to do a run of 1" and nobody was interested.

    need rifle rated Dueling Tree

BDS targets are top notch. He is here on the hide. He also supplies targets for several matches and they hold up far better than many others I have seen at matches. He is a great guy and makes some great targets.

my first full bolt gun build, where to start?

Something to consider, if you buy a Remington you are going to need to true the action, have a m16 or sako extractor installed, probably add a bolt knob so your costs are going to be almost the price of buying a custom action. I typically show this to customers so they can see what all the costs...

    Folder vs Non-Folder

Folder makes it handy for a shorty like a 18" barreled truck gun. Can fold it up to a real compact and easy to carry.

    McMillian HTG adjustable ?

I have one in the safe just not adjustable. Its a great stock for hunting and light weight. Well made like other MCM stocks with no flex or any of the issues with the cheap stocks just doesnt have the pistol grip or rear bag hook but for a lightweight hunter its great.

Rifle Scopes Favorite RETICLE and why??

I wish SB would bring back the Gen II XR. That is by far my favorite, works great for holdovers and wind holds where other reticles you are just holding in space. Its not to cluttered like the horus and has just enough that you can holdover dope and wind and not be holding in nomans land. my .02

    Gunsmithing Removing duracoat?

Re: Removing duracoat? If you plan to repaint it in the future, I would suggest blasting with ALOX or bead blasting again then dip in acetone for 20 mins, pull out put it in a oven or something that you can heat it to about 150 to pull the oils out then re dip in acetone again. You may need...

    Gunsmithing bore curvature

Re: bore curvature Even for those who use a fixture how much stress are you really inducing across 4" of barrel at its thickest point. Second depending on cartridge chambering only the first 2.5" with the first 2" to 2.5" outside of that 4" centers so that point is stress free. With the large...

    Gunsmithing bore curvature

Re: bore curvature There is some degree of stress induced in fixtures but this will still not affect the runout across the barrel. Typical fixtures are indicated at two points at 4" centers typically so this will not affect the direction of runout to the muzzle. I dont use a fixture as I dont...

Re: Is installing a Badger Bold Knob difficult? As Chad said they are cast, I just did one the other day that had an inclusion in it. It was so bad that I couldnt even get it threaded, it broke off in the lathe. Had to tig it and rethread. Tig is your friend Just be prepared and have a...

    Gunsmithing smith to rebarrel rifle

Re: smith to rebarrel rifle Send it to C Dixon, I have seen several of his work first hand. I build my own and I will say Dixon does some of the finest work I have ever seen. To give you an idea of his work the only question for Chad maybe "Does anal retentive have a hyphen?"

    Gunsmithing bore curvature

Re: bore curvature Barrels can range from .015 to as much as .300 runout across the length of the barrel. When you look at it as a 26" barrel or whatever the length of the barrel is it is a very slight runout. All barrels have some runout. Your better barrels like Bartlein and Rock seem to be...
