Honest Opinion on home defense rifle

Don't disagree that the best solution is to move to a safer neighborhood where neither OP nor his family will be in harms way. But there may be any number of reasons this is not an option - i.e jobs, kids school, housing market/finances etc. At the very least a guarding breed of dog will serve...

Honest Opinion on home defense rifle

I'm kind of in the shotgun camp. Maybe a nice tactical shotgun like a Beretta 1301 or Benelli M2/M4 so you don't have to worry about cycling or short stroking a pump. Add an extended tube to increase capacity. Otherwise I'd go with an AR15 in 5.56 or 300 BO with a red dot. And a more...

Help me choose my 5.56 SBR Upper - DD or Geissele

Own a DD with 10.3" barrel. Run it with a Dead Air Sandman S and never found the need for an AGB (and I shoot lefty, so I'm more sensitive to gas blow back). I think I have a Geisele spring and an H2 or H3 buffer and the gun runs like a top shooting mostly XM193 or PMC X-TAC.

    Larue Siete available to order

As someone who is admittedly something of a LaRue fanboy I was looking forward to this. I own several Ultimate Uppers and they are all shooters and have been 100% reliable. In fact my standard advice to someone looking for an accurate AR at a bargain price is to buy a blemished Aero Precision...

Rifle Scopes What $500-ish mil/mil 4-16x with decent glass?

Yondering, haven't done a box test with the Trijicon, but on a recent trip to the range shooting out to about 500 and making the necessary elevation changes to get out that far and then back in to 100 tracking was spot on. Illumination is decent if full daylight, at least at the brightest...

Rifle Scopes What $500-ish mil/mil 4-16x with decent glass?

Eurooptic is blowing out several models of Trijicon scopes. Most are SFP, which may be a deal breaker for you. But here is a 4-16x option which might work if you're willing to go to $600...

Help me choose a barrel - WOA, CLE, Ranier, Larue, Odin Works, Wilson Combat?

WOA runs a "talk like a pirate" sale in September. (Or at least they did in 2021.). Last year picked up a 16" SPR barrel for under $200. That's a tough price to beat.

    Trijicon Credo 2.5-10x56 experiences?

Don't have any experience with this particular model, although I did just buy the Credo 4-16x and I think it is an excellent value, at least for the price I paid. I can tell you where to get one if you decide to pull the trigger -...

    Suppressors Flow Through Suppressors?

Another alternative is the LaRue Tranquilo. Like the OSS cans they have little back pressure. And I shoot lefty, so for me this is even more of an issue. Also, if you have previously bought an Ultimate Upper from LaRue you can get one for 50% off ($399). They are very rugged, so no problem...

    What suppressor?

Own a Dead Air Sandman S, which I most run on assorted AR's, but also one bolt gun. This would be a great do it all choice. It can handle mag dumps from a short barreled AR, doesn't have much back pressure (which I appreciate as a lefty) and has a great QD system, so it's super easy to switch...

Suppressors What effects backpressure on a piston gas gun

Yes, LaRue Tranquilo is great as far as back pressure is concerned. And does a great job of suppression (very quiet). It is very heavy though. And if you've bought an UU upper from LaRue they will generally sell it to you for the reduced price of $399 (at least that was true about a year...

Suppressors What effects backpressure on a piston gas gun

Fellow lefty who also shoots suppressed, but my two primary suppressors are a Dead Air Sandman S and a LaRue Tranquilo. Neither has a lot of back pressure, so even on a short barreled DI gun I don't find the gas too bad. And shooting my PWS or my Sig 716 (both of which are pistons) are really...

    Where to buy a scope?

I'd take a look at demos from Eurooptic. I've bought a couple from them and have had very good experiences. You can get a pretty good discount and in most cases the scopes are indistinguishable from new.

    Help with decision on AR10

Thanks, comments very helpful. I do agree AR10's are a different animal than AR15's in their lack of standardization. I asked the question because I've never gone the route of full customization and genuinely didn't know what added value I would be getting by doing so. Seems like there really...

    Help with decision on AR10

Not to hijack this thread, but I do have a question for padom. My general approach if I want to put together a precision AR10 or AR15 is to buy the upper and put together the lower myself. Recently did this with an AR15. Bought a blemished Aeroprecision stripped lower and added the lower...

    Help with decision on AR10

Soprano - Own a Tikka CTR that I dropped into an aftermarket chassis. Very similar to your TAC3. Great rifle. I've always found semi-autos more difficult to shoot consistently than bolt action rifles, so don't get frustrated if your groups open up, particularly at first. And an AR10 is a...

    Help with decision on AR10

Might be helpful if OP gave us some info. about his intended uses for this rifle. I have two AR10's and have them set up as long range shooters. So longer barrels, fairly heavy scopes with at least 16x on the upper end, and with a tripod on the front. Weight is really the last thing I'd be...

    Help with decision on AR10

I'd find out how many rounds through the barrel. If it's not excessive, this might be a great option. Nothing wrong with Aero M5 lowers. Don't have any personal experience with Rainer Arms Ultra Match barrels, but anecdotally I've heard they are real shooters. Also, pretty well spec'd. out...

Firearms Sig SSG3000 308 for sale or trade PRICE DROP

I happen to own one of these, albeit with the factory stock, which is meh. However, the stock trigger is excellent and the gun is an absolute tack driver with FGMM. Used it in a fun match at my local gun club. 20 consecutive rounds at 100 yards. Smallest group wins. Using FGMM my 20 round...
