Re: 300 Rum ,210/240 grains We were running 3050 fps with a 225 Hornady BTHP with Retumbo. We were shooting it at 1780 yards, and it was shooting good!

What happened to my case head??

Re: What happened to my case head?? I'd be shocked if the primer caused that. More than likely that is a HOT load, and you have pressure signs. What do the other cases look like? If you are shooting a 100 grain bullet with 47 grains of Varget, then that charge is too low and causing a...

Range Report non suppressed shooting subsonic ammo?

Re: non suppressed shooting subsonic ammo? Shooting subsonic ammo without a supressor sounds like a 22 LR going off. How loud it is depends on the powder used and how long your barrel is.

    7/08 and 139 GMX

Re: 7/08 and 139 GMX For some reason, The GMX bullets I've played with shot much better below max. The faster I pushed them, the worse they shot. About 75 to 100 fps lower than max pressure speeds was the sweet spot.

300 Blackout- what weight bullet would you like?

Re: 300 Blackout- what weight bullet would you like? So far I have ammo for the 110 V-max, 110 Barnes Tipped TSX, and 125 Nolser BT in full power loads. For subs, I have the 208, 220 SMK, 225 BTHP, and 220 RN (for bolt guns). I'll add the 110 Black Tip Barnes, 150 grain GMX and the 240...

What distance do you do your ladder testing?

Re: What distance do you do your ladder testing? Here is an old school load work-up method I shot this morning at 300 yards. It's a GAP 243 Win shooting 115 DTAC coated bullets. First load was in the middle, second load was low left, 3rd high left, and last was top right. You can see the...

What distance do you do your ladder testing?

Re: What distance do you do your ladder testing? Old school method is very simple. Take a 308 Win shooting a 175 SMK and Varget or R15 powder. If you do a little research, you will find most load this bullet anywhere from 42 to 45 grains of Varget. (Book data is very low and conservative.)...

    Boolit choice for 300 WM

Re: Boolit choice for 300 WM Stop shooting an OCW or ladder method. Your WTF comment is very common with this method. Just load up 5 rounds each with small powder charges (.3 or .4 for a WM case) working back from max, and start at the lowest one. You will see what shots good in 1 range trip...

    A-Max bullet tips breaking off???

Re: A-Max bullet tips breaking off??? The only broken one's I've seen is in the bullet box. And I've only seen a few. Never seen an issue in a AR platform. They will get a scratch or ding if you drop them or if they hang up on the feed ramp. But I've never seen an issue.

What distance do you do your ladder testing?

Re: What distance do you do your ladder testing? 300 is my prefered distance to test precision rifles. If it's a basic hunting gun with a lower power scope, I'll test it at 200. I don't mess with the OCW or ladder method. I use the old school load work up method. It's much easier, faster...

Too Much Powder Not enough 260AI Speed

Re: Too Much Powder Not enough 260AI Speed 2 things- 1st- let the barrel break in to about 150 rounds. After that, see what velocities you are getting. Most new barrels take this many rounds to get their true speed and accuracy. Also, load up 1 round each in about .5 grain increments as high...

    .300 blackout subsonic breakthrough

Re: .300 blackout subsonic breakthrough This was the same issue I had when developing my line of blk out subsonic ammo. The powders listed by Hodgdon and other sites on-line did not shoot well, gave very high extreme spreads, or didn't cycle a 16" AR (or all 3!). I started playing around with...

300 Blackout- what weight bullet would you like?

Re: 300 Blackout- what weight bullet would you like? Hey Steve, I have the 110 Barnes Tipped TSX and the 220 SMK loads. You will need a faster twist than the common 1:8" for the 240 SMK. But that is a good option! Do you know what twist will be needed to stabilize it?
