    Leverevolution

I was at the 6.5 Grendel forum some time back, and read a post that made reference to Leverevolution being a close match to CFE223. Just checking here to see if anyone has used it in .223. I'm trying to get the 77gr CC's to move faster, without the pressure signs, and loss of accuracy. So far...

What is Ramshot TAC good for?

First off, just know that I'm not too lazy to do the load development. I've had this 8# of TAC for almost 8 years, and tried it in .308, multiple bullet weights. Also in .223, and 6.5 Grendel. Tac was edged out, accuracy wise, in all my phases of testing, so before I condemn it to load blasting...

    Rifle Scopes Acog Optical Quality

I recently lucked into an Acog for cheap. Not sure which model, it has the Docter reflex sight toward the rear. I was comparing resolution & image quality with two other 4X scopes, a Leatherwood CMR, and a Weaver 30mm 1.5x4 illuminated dot reticle, both of which, beat the Acog significantly in...

Fed .300WM brass, HE added to headstamp?

Anyone seen, or know why the letters HE would be added to the headstamp on my .300wm Federal brass?

Gunsmithing Aftermarket AR10 barrel headspace issue

About 4 years ago, I bought and installed a barrel on an Eagle Arms AR10. The seller claimed it was a barely used Mike Rock 5R, and so far, I have no reason not to believe him. At the time, I didn't have head space gauges, but installed it anyway. I realize that I exposed myself to potential...

    Hornady 75gr HPBT accuracy

I've been shooting the 77gr Noslers out of a RRNM AR15 and a DPMS, same setup for a couple of years now. I don't shoot matches, but this bullet has been really accurate out to 700yds, consistently. My stash of 77gr & Data 74 powder is almost gone, so I bought a few boxes of 100 Hornady 75gr hpbt...

Sidearms & Scatterguns My Criterion Savage Pre-fit Experience

I ordered a 24" 1/10" .308 Savage pre-fit from NSS, to put on my $280. Bi-Mart 11fcxp3 package gun. The barrel showed up in a month, fairly quick. The barrel shank was cut too long, and was bottoming out on the bolt lugs at about .040 too long. Through Jim Briggs, I returned the barrel...

    Gunsmithing Cryo Treating The Action?

I've been researching Savage drop-in barrels for my 110Fcp-HS in .338LM, and came across a thread at Savage Shooters forum that described the actions of these rifles as being barely adequate to accommodate the beating that the .338LM can dish out over long term use. I ordered a Rock Creek 30"...

    Bumping shoulder on loaded rounds

I just discovered a major mistake in my sizing process with some converted .300blk brass. I used a cheap Lee press to size my brass, and must not have been getting to the bottom of the stroke, causing insufficient headspace in my SBR ar15. After some load development, I backed off my original...

Range Report 5% of My CCI 250 primers not igniting .338LM

About 8 months ago after getting into the .338LM game, I hand loaded a .338LM round with no charge in it. This is the first time, in ten years of hand loading, and tens of thousands of rounds, I've ever fouled this up. Oddly, since then, I have experienced one in twenty of these magnum primers...

    Gunsmithing 110FCP-HS Muzzle Brake Mod

Has anybody ported the top side of the factory brake on the Savage 110Fcp-Hs .338LM? Muzzle jump is making it hard to spot those 1k impacts.

    Contaminated Brass

Just got done with a 2k batch of converted 300blk brass. During load testing with a new gas system, upper & bolt & carrier, I have been getting occasional severe overpressure/overgassed signs. The load is a known moderate/high end load that functioned well before the component swap. The new...

    Federal large rifle magnum primers

I found an awesome load in .308 that is pushing the limits. 47gr of 2000mr & a 208gr Hornady hpbt in a Winchester case. For shits & giggles, I used a CCI large rifle magnum primer, the groups got even tighter and I picked up another 25fps. With no ejector marks, easy bolt lift, and only slight...

    Redding 3BR powder measure

I've read a lot of good things about this measure, but the one I have is very inconsistent. I've had it for 9 months now, and it seems very sensitive to the force with which I dispense. If I hit the handle against the body at all, I get a .1-.2gr increase in charge wt, guaranteed. If I hit it...

300gr Bergers - New product number....

I was comparing the product numbers off the box of Hybrid OTM Tactical .338 300gr 50ct Bergers(PN:33106), to the product number shown for the 100ct box of the same bullet, which has a different product number(PN:33109). I'm guessing that the new number reflects only the increased quantity in the...

    Annealing magnum cases

I've been using the darkroom method, exposing the case neck to propane flame for 4-5 seconds to just achieve a dull red glow, then tipping the drill to drop the case in water. It goes quick, and have done thousands of .223 & .308 this way. I finally got around to my .300wm brass, using the same...

    300gr Bergers not grouping

In the Savage 110FCP HS, I'm not the only one that can't get the 300gr Bergers, seated at mag length, to group MOA at 200yds, but I'd like to try & get an idea of who IS. Sierra & Lapua 300 grainers both shot MOA without much load development, but the SMK's are hard to find, & both bullets are...

    Gunsmithing FAL tearing up caseheads

I couldn't log on at FAL Files, so I thought I'd cast my line here, until I get that sorted out. My FAL carbine is leaving a deep vertical mark on the case head. Viewed from the side, it appears that the rim is being bent back towards the bolt by the extractor. I adjusted the gas open to the...

    Why Not Reloder17 in .338LM?

The Sierra manual lists 78.2gr of IMR4350 as the accuracy load for a 300gr SMK .338LM. Since Reloder17 and IMR4350 are so close in burn rate, I'm curious if anyone has pursued this load combo. If there are no glaring reasons why not, I might try this.

    Re-sizing after annealing

I've got 3k pieces of once fired LC brass from the late 60's early 70's. I annealed them to preserve the necks & shoulders, but I jumped the gun and did it after I already sized it. The ammo will be shot at 500+ yds from rifles capable of 1 moa & better. Should I re-size again?
