    Gunsmithing Adding a Freeland Rail?

I have this rail off of a Remington 40x wood stock from the CMP. I am considering putting it on a McMillan HTG. It was originally held on w/ some wood screws, but they are VERY chewed up from getting them out. First question, is what do I need to measure to know if I have a freeland or...

    Gunsmithing Bolt vs. reciever tolerance

I am looking at having chad build a rifle for me. In my search for a receiver a friend has offered me a Remington action that has already been blueprinted with PTG tooling. However the raceway was reamed to .705 and the bolt that comes with it is a standard bolt. What would the drawbacks be...

    Gunsmithing 6mm reamers?

Looking into building my First rifle once my south bend is rebuilt. i THINK i have settled on the 6slr. Longer barrel life, and equal velocites as the 243. It seems optimal for me since i am not 100 percent sure if i am going to run the 105s or the 115's. and NO fireforming is involved. will...

Gunsmithing Grind your own, or Inserts?

What is prefered for the manual lathes? I would think in the long run, grinding your own would be better as you can keep the tools sharp for every job, and probably cheaper since you wont have to buy inserts. but inserts save time and can eliminate some human errors.
