    Beanland build has touched down

Not bad for starting out. I think it should do better. Try 37.5 gr varget and jump that 140 hybrid. .010 - .020 and see if u can tighten it up a bit. Might even start at 37 and work up.

    AICS owners is this normal???

It will stress the rear tang. The tang is floating over the V. You probably won't actually see it bend with your eye and honestly i have never put an indicator on the tang when tightening the screw. I just know the front end will rise if the tang is not bedded. Its just better to bed the...

    Gunsmithing 5r Chambering issues

The reamer will follow the bored hole whether there is a pilot on there or not. I would not ream a chamber without a pilot unless I was drilling and pe-boring. 580-471-3380

    Gunsmithing 5r Chambering issues

I also drill and pre-bore and my reamer also has a good portion of the body cut before the neck and throat start cutting. All that I can say is I have reamers that have done this on 5r barrels and not done in on 4 groove barrels. I have also reamed many chambers without using a pilot at all...

    Gunsmithing Chamber throat too short.

They do a .236 and a .237. You really need to know what you have. But say you have a .236. I would order a .2358 pilot which will be .0002 smaller for a little clearance. The uni throaters will work fine. Just go slow and check often. It is easy to cut much. Yes you will probably have to retune...

    Gunsmithing 5r Chambering issues

I have noticed reamer chatter or you might call it push off in the throat area while chambering 5r barrels. I have even seen it transfer back into the chamber if bad enough. When you cut a 5r barrel with a six flute reamer, there is no flute on the opposing side to offset the force of the land...

    Gunsmithing Smith Recommendation Needed

Gunsmithing Short Action Customs: Timing curvature of the bore

Re: Short Action Customs: Timing curvature of the bore Mark is indicating directly on the bore, this is the reason that the indicator is jumping. He has the first section of the bore where the chamber will be and where the bullet starts its journey running as strait and true as possible. It...

Re: Two Rifles for Two Boys! Keith, All i can say is Wow! You did an excellent job. The smile on Cole's face says it all. That make it all worth while doesn't it. Those boys are lucky to have a dad like you. You are a great guy and it has been a pleasure to talk with you and get to know...

    Gunsmithing Bolt function Problem

Re: Bolt function Problem As said above. Trigger needs to be timed by removing material from the angle on the cocking piece so the trigger can reset without moving the bolt rearward.

Gunsmithing My first time cutting on a gun (barrel threading)

Re: My first time cutting on a gun (barrel threading) I would also try to bring the barrel back in a little closer to the spider chuck. More rigid the closer you can work to the clamping point. Looks like your on the right track though.

Gunsmithing Solid pilot vs. removable pilot reamers

Re: Solid pilot vs. removable pilot reamers you absolutely have to bore the hole after drilling as others have said. The small shank where the pilot rides will not overcome the force of the off center hole where the reamer body is cutting.

Gunsmithing Solid pilot vs. removable pilot reamers

Re: Solid pilot vs. removable pilot reamers If your setups right, you don't need a pilot at all. Drill and pre-bore. The reamers following the hole.
