Gunsmithing Remington Model 7 barrel dimension question

I am in the process of building a Remington XP100-R which is a Model 7 action. I have a few palma barrel blanks that were cut down and the one I really like is 1.155 at the breech end. Will this be enough meat to cut threads and leave enough shoulder for the recoil lug? Thanks for the help.

    Remington 700 pistol

Brownells is again offering from the factory bare 700 actions. Can these legally be uses to build a 700 pistol like the XP100 or do they have to be made into rifles?

Hunting & Fishing New Life for my Old 45-70 Govt.

Finally finished the re-birth project on my NEF Handi-Rifle in .45-70 Govt. I was given this rifle for my high school graduation in 1998 and have taken more game with it than any other rifle I own. It is probably the cheapest rifle in my collection but has more history and scalps than all the...

    Copperhead GLOCK

Cerakote'd this "COPPERHEAD GLOCK" as a present for my dad. He was pleased. Cool to be able to make your dad smile with a gun upgrade. Mixed the copper color with Gold, Burnt Bronze, and Crimson.

Gunsmithing Turning down 45-70 Govt brass to .473 bolt face

Daydreaming of a Rem 700 in 45-70 Govt. Thinking of turning down the 45-70 brass to .473 bolt face specs. Initial measurements and splitting a 45-70 brass long-ways seems to look like there is enough brass available to do this safely. Has this or is this being done by anyone and what were...

Homemade SS Parkerizing and Acetone Wash Vat

Been getting into Cerakoting and wanted to offer parkerizing as well. Really like the ability to Cerakote directly over fresh parkerized steel for extra protection of carbon pieces. Have a few stainless long pans but wanted a vat to hold long barrels and dip large pieces. Had a larger...

Hunting & Fishing First Blood for New .308

Finished this rifle earlier this year and finally was able to put it to use. After two weekends of guiding hunts for my sons, I was able to sneak off Monday morning for some hunting time of my own. Cattle decided to have an early morning convention under my tree-stand so I decided to...

    Hunting & Fishing 7 year old Son's first kill/buck

One proud dad right now. Took my 7 year old son hunting this morning and he took this fine buck as his first kill ever. He did everything other than me stabilizing the forend on the wooden window frame of the blind. 75 yard shot and he hit the deer right in the base of the neck at the...

Hunting & Fishing Your stick with the most notches....

Think it would be cool to see (and read about) everyone's rifle that has the most kills for them. Maybe with a pic even. Don't care so much as to exact numbers, but why that particular rifle has drawn the most blood. Here is mine. No doubt, the cheapest rifle in my collection, but was my...

Just finished my Cerakote Oven. $200 for a stainless and insulated used warming cabinet that "might" be working off of CL. Welded the back door shut and removed all the guts and junk off the top. Sealed, welded, and high-temp foam and caulk'd all the holes, openings, and vents. Welded...
