Re: The better rifle? a good 300 win would be a more practical tool for learning to shoot long range.a big 338 is a special tool for extreme long range or an application requiring a lot of horsepower but less than a 50 cal.

Re: H4350 for .260 load h4350 is a great powder in the.260 however your 1/9 barrel will be very marginal with a 142 smk.

Re: 338 RUM or rechamber to Edge? 300 rum brass is easier to find for the edge and velocity difference is about 60 fps,both can shoot very well.

Re: 338 edge, lapua or RUM? Edge or rum are a better fit in a rem action,lapua has better brass.Case capacity only differs 3-4% so performance will be about the same with the edge having possibly a 1% velocity advantage.
