I stand corrected. I checked my lee decapping die, and found it was opening my flash holes. Glad I read this thread I probably would have never noticed it.
The scope problem I had was about 8-9 years ago. When I read your post it sounded familiar. The scopes were new when I had the issues also. It may not be the problem, but I thought I would mention it.
I had the same problem on two rifles in the past. Both were Nikon buckmaster scopes. One, I sent to hill country rifles. It wasn't till then that they told me it was a bad scope. If you have another scope to try out just to make sure, I would..
I'm running the .97 on my sightron 56mm (65mm OD) OBJ. MTU contour. 2.55mm from bell to barrel. If I had went with the .92, I would only have 1.275mm from B to B. The .87 would set me on my barrel.
My father in law gave me a 1991A1 pistol. It was flat black with a few scratches. I decided to have a little fun with some cerakote. Patriot brown and magpul FDE, black.
I have made two range trips with my new 30p-1. On my second trip I ended up dropping my powder charge on my 7-08 from 46.5 to 46.3gr. Not because of pressure tho. With the suppressor on, it just seems to like it backed down a smidge.
I still use the RCBS chamfer tool. Sometimes I have to tilt the tool at a angel to knock off the burr, Not so much that the inside stem contacts the inside of the neck tho.
I pre-loaded some rounds for my 6.5x47. I just seated them long, until I can measure the chamber. I will be using a chrono also. I guess if anything, I will have a good idea where a node is.
I also was on a 1000 dollar budget, and ended up buying the sightron 8x32. I don't think it can be beat at the price point. As good, if not better glass than the nxs. Tracks great! It's also pretty easy to add the zero stop as well. I say go for it.
