    Making progress

My latest handload is now giving me results in the ballpark to the .308 FGMM 168s I've been using as a benchmark. Not quite there yet, but closer than anything before it. I developed this load in a .2 grain increment ladder test first at 100 yds then out at 200 yds, trying to match the drop thus...

    .308 scarcity?

Anyone else noticed this? Maybe it's a seasonal thing. I went to my local Sportsman's Warehouse to pick up some FGMM 168s and they were out, which is not common. They were out of 175s, too. So then I notice that everyone seems to be out of Winchester .308 brass just now... What gives?

    Maggie’s So today, I forgot...

... to bring the bolt for my R700 with me to the range. D'OH!! I had dry swabbed the bore before packing everything into the car. Drove all the way out there, and got all set up before realizing the damn bolt was still sitting on my workbench. So much for shooting today... gonna be two weeks...

Rifle Scopes NSD & Initial Thoughs: SWFA 5-20

HNSD to me... Just got my "new to me" SS HD 5-20x 50mm scope from beretta_man11 on Friday (very smooth transaction, BTW). Got it mounted up and bore sighted Friday night but had to wait until Sunday morning to zero it and get some shooting in. Mine is mounted on a 700 LTR in .308 with a Farrel...

Rifle Scopes Weaver 5-20x50 FFP as an upgrade from a SS 3-9x42?

I've been super happy with the quality of the SS 3-9 FFP mil/mil scope. However, I've been shooting out past 200 Yds more often lately, and intend to do even more coming up in the future. The 9x max of the SS seems to be somewhat of a limiting factor. I've been looking at the Weaver 5-20x50...

First handloads and Range Report, Rem. 700 LTR

I am still new to precision shooting and have tons to learn... so thanks for all the great info on this site! I purchased this rifle used last fall and have been learning to shoot it in the past months. I also got my dad to haul out his old reloading equipment that hadn't been used since the...

Plastic rounds for dry fire practice?

Sorry if this is a silly question - I'm still pretty new to bolt guns. I mentioned to my dad (who used to shoot a lot in the '60s & '70s) that I was dry fire practicing when I got the chance and how it seems to be improving my trigger control (groups are shrinking). He said that I might want to...

New to the Hide (long) and Thanks

Hi everyone - I'm one of the noobs around here. I've lurked since probably September or October of 2011, and already learned a great deal from all of you. Thanks for all the great info, by the way! I started shooting when still a kid in the 1970s, and took the hunter safety training course way...
