    Steyr SSG69 Trigger LOP Question

Maybe someone here can answer this question. I have a Steyr SSG69 with the double-set triggers bedded in a McMillan stock. Turns out it is a long reach from the grip to the front trigger, and this causes a less than optimum hand position when gripping the stock. Does anyone know if it is...

    7mm-08 AI Action Length Question

Thinking of building a 7mm-08 AI on a Rem SA I have kicking around. While researching twist rates, I read that the AI needs a longer action. Is this true? Suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, B

    Picatinny Scope Rail MOA Question

I'm putting a picatinny scope rail on a Steyr .308 Win with a 26" barrel. The only two options are 0 MOA and 20 MOA. I'm going to take this rifle regularly to 600 yards, maybe even 1000. Scope hasn't been chosen yet. Likely to be a Vortex. Which MOA rail do you recommend?

Options for a SIG 716 Upper in 6.5 Creedmoor?

I have a SIG 716 in .308. I was thinking it might be fun to experiment with a DI upper in 6.5 CM with perhaps a 18-20 inch barrel. Looking for some feedback. Would you build or buy one? If recommending to build, what might the expected cost be for a decent build? If recommending to buy...

    Rimfire Ammo Testing Protocols

Late summer I picked up a limited selection of several grades of the most favored brands of match ammo discussed in the mega T1X thread. This was in anticipation of testing a new rifle. For various reasons I didn't get the rig assembled until mid-November. Of course quality .22 LR has pretty...

Recommended twist rate for 7mm-08 AI

I'm going to re-barrel a Savage Model 12 LRP to 7mm-08 AI for hunting. I have a couple questions. What twist rate is recommended for 140 to 165 grain bullets? I'm also thinking the LRP barrel contour is a bit long and heavy for toting around though I've been doing it for several years. What...

Anyone tried a JP CSS in a SIG 716?

Has anyone tried running a JP Enterprises Captured Spring System (CSS) in SIG 716 Patrol yet? If so, let me know how it works for you. I have been running two of these in a pair of AR-15s with 20" HBAR barrels and Gen 1 UBR stocks without any issues. One CSS has about 14,000-15,000 rounds...

Economical places to order AR small parts from?

I need to order some specific AR small parts in odd numbers (some for builds, some for spares.) Buying complete small parts kits will result in a lot of leftover, unused parts. Any recommendations for an economical place to order from? I'm thinking places like Brownells might not be the most...

Good quality AR-15 dedicated .22 LR Upper?

Can someone recommend who makes a good quality .22 LR dedicated upper for AR-15s? By quality I mean with an accurate barrel, as well as functionally reliable, and without pot-metal or plastic receiver parts. A reliable quality mag would also be important. I've read up on the CMMGs and...

What is the origin of National Match "NM" Garand & M-14 rifle parts?

As far as I know these parts were made by Springfield Armory (the original one?) Is that correct? Were they the only provider of "NM" parts, or have there been other "knock-off" parts made/sold? (My DCM, now CMP Garand came with an NM op rod, and 30 years ago I bought some very nice NM...

Who makes the lowest Picatinny rail mount for a Rem 700 long action, preferably a quality mount with a recoil lug? (Tried mounting a Steiner 4-16x50 Military (34mm tube) on a 700 long action with an EGW 20 MOA mount and NightForce Ultralight Medium rings. This setup ended up being too high.)...

Howdy, There is tons of great info in this forum, but personally the more I read, the more confusing it gets since I don’t have the hands-on experience on which to base the decisions, or the ability to check out the hardware before buying… so here goes… Up till now all my 45+ years of hunting...
