Watch Out for Scammers!
We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!
It would not surprise me if we get reduced participation due to the high cost of competing. Unless you are sponsored well, this game is getting really expensive. I'm really reducing my matches as a result. Thoughts?
I have not been that motivated to compete this year due to cost of reloading components. I have found other things to fill my "hobby time" that don't break the bank. I will wait for things to calm down and then slowly return. Anyone else in the same boat?
1 set of 2 Vortex Tactical Rings (Medium - 0.97") $30 Shipped to CUSA. In like new condition with no scratches. These are $24/ring ($48/set plus tax from Midway, Amazon, etc.).
I'm seriously thinking about competing much less this year due to the reloading supply issues. Just not willing to pay high prices and spend time chasing supplies down. I will just wait it out and not be part of the problem. I plan to do some other fun sporting/hobby activities to keep me...
Is there any harm in storing a rifle in firing position/sitting on a bipod per the photo below of my .223 fun rifle? The only issue I can think of is fatigue on the action screws as the barrel is cantilevered.
Stock has been treated with extreme care and never used in competition. Karsten Cheek Rest is perfectly installed and provides great cheek weld. See Karsten website here: http://www.karstenskydexcheekrest.com/category/adjustable-cheek-pieces Otherwise, stock is factory original with 5 round...
Barrel Nut and Recoil Lug included. Excellent condition. Has about 1200 rounds through it. Good accuracy with 69 grain Sierra TMK's. $110 shipped to continental USA. Payment via Venmo or Paypal.
The new South Fork rifle from Bad Rock Precision Rifles (https://badrockrifles.com/) looks to have great potential. Bad Rock is affiliated with Defiance Machine which manufactures lovely actions as we know. Anyway, the recently introduced South Fork rifle has a great specification list (see...
Ok, I had this issue when reloading for my .223 fun rifle and I decided to finally take action. My load is 25 grains Varget, 69 gr. Sierra TMK's, Lapua brass, CCI 450 magnum small rifle primers. The load is slightly compressed and this doesn't help any. My full length die was from a standard...
In the spirit of Halloween... I made this video a couple of years ago. The pumpkin was filled with water then impacted with a .308 round at about 100 yards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7qIGiI4W1Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU9B4i840v4
I normally exclusively run Berger 130 grain VLD (target/match) in my 6.5 x 47 Lapua. Of course, they run about $.40-.45/ea., but give great results. I'm seeing these Norma 130 grain Golden Target bullets at Mid-South Shooters for $133/500 ct. or about $.27/ea.. Has anybody had experience with...
I am getting a new 6.5 x 47 Lapua Bartlein barrel fitted soon. I am definitely getting the barrel threaded for a brake. I am torn between the APA LB Gen I or II. I do like the look of a Gen I 'smithed for a seamless appearance. But, is there any advantage to the Gen II aside from saving the...
I am a member since 2013. I just recently sold some items on the Post Exchange, but am unable to post a new item now. Looks like I have "insufficient privileges". How do I get qualified? Thanks, George "IndianaRem5r"
My plan is to have the 'smith chamber the barrel to put the 130 grain VLD on the lands out of the box then I can back it off a little. Any suggestions for a good OAL to start with for the dummy round? My first thought is an even 2.800" OAL. That puts the end of the bullet just past the neck...
I am going to re-barrel my semi custom Rem 700 SPS Varmint (in XLR Element Chassis) with a Bartlein in 6 or 6.5 x 47 Lapua. It currently has the original Rem .243 barrel with a brake installed. Never was better than 1 MOA and almost 1,000 handloaded rounds through it. Yes, I do reload for...
In the last year, I have built two rifles from factory configurations. One in .243 from a Remington 700 SPS Varmint and the other from a .223 Savage 12FV. The Savage is the better base rifle for the money and I will tell you why. In both cases, I junked the factory stocks. They actually went in...
