Steiner p4xi 1-4 sitting in badger mount (I believe 1.70). Has obviously been rattled. Glass is totally clean, scope has some wear on it (namely on the rubber around the eye piece, there is a flat spot, it affects nothing). Optic has a throw lever and the HRT knob has been JB welded to the lever...

I just purchased this Elcan SpecterDR 1-4 in FDE with 7.62 calibrated reticle. I opened the box 2 hours ago as of the time of this post. Includes flip-up lens covers, Elcan kill flash, and still sealed battery. I can't say anything negative about it really, but I guess I was just expecting...

Couldn't find much information about a comparison between these two. I can get a good deal on the older 1-4x24 for about $1000, are there any differences between the two apart from zoom range and country of manufacture?

I've got a DSA carbine length and would like a 1-4 with some good clarity. I've read the viper 1-4 pst is great and would like to keep it under 600 with the mount and rings.
