If I understand the question, my comment is "Make sure you know who is going to fix it if it breaks" ...
I'm good at messing up my PVS-14s ...
But PVS-14s are ubiquitous so anyone that can work on a pvs-14 can work on a pvs-14. Not sure that is true for a pit bull housings ... but maybe ... but if you are not the one that will be fixing it, I would ask the person you've picked if they can fix it. If so, then you are good to go!
That said, If it was me, I would get pvs-14s and that's what I did (I have 2) because I know anyone that can work on 14s can work on them, so I'm not dependent upon someone who will work on a non-standard widget (or a pitbull).
Also are you sure the helmet and the mounts are the ones you want?

Can you get thru the lens pics with an illuminator lighting up the subject ? (if the tube has been "abused" there might be a bit of chicken wire showing in such an image - I speak from experience )

How is the balance? If you hold the helmet in your two hands with the 14 on the side away from you and then go down to 1 finger on both hands ... does the helmet tip forward, or remain balanced? Having it balanced really adds to the "comfort" (in my experience) because the tensioner is not working on your head so hard to hold the helmet straight and level. My helmets are 8-10 pounds depending on the setups, but I do not notice them outside for 2 reasons ... (1) They are balanced (2) I've done this enough that I've built up some neck muscles where I never had them before !

I swore I was not going to get sucked into this any deeper than one thermal rifle scope. Shooting from a fixed position is one thing. Stalking and finding the wounded monster hog in the dark is another. When I can hear the him plowing through the water 200 yards away (but out of sight) I ask my self, If only I had Wigs gear. This scenario is becoming to familiar. Santa's list is building.
