'03 Mark I , Pedersen Slotted

This forum has got me thinking about putting together a clone so I dug out an old Springfield I've had for about 50 years. There is nothing correct about the rifle so I was thinking about using it for a donor action and other various parts.

The action is a Mark I, slotted for a Pedersen Device. Are these slotted receivers of any particular value? If not are the double heat treated receivers suitable for SAAMI ammo?

I believe the device is more rare than the rifle. I seen a slotted rifle a few years ago and don't remember if it had a big price tag. Well just bumping the thread.

I have one that is similar. The mark 1 receiver is suppose to be he best of all the '03 versions. The old match shooters and rifle builders really sought these out because of their strength, etc. I do not know the current values for the action, but should be worth more than the average '03 action.

I would never destroy any 03 Springfield unless the receiver was a basket case. The price continues to climb on an 03. the Mark I is worth about the same as any other 03 in the same condition but more than an 03a3. If it is in exc condition without too many upgrades it could be worth north of 1K.

Thanks for the info. guys. I bought this out of a barrel full of various 03 configurations. The receiver itsel is in excellent condition showing very little wear. The finish of this receiver is a green hue and almost loooks enameled. Whatever the finish is, it has held up very well.

Cycling the bolt makes you think of a TRG. It is extremely slick and the trigger is excellent. It's no wonder they were used for high end custom rifle builds.

That green finish is park that has been in cosomlin (spelling) for a long time.
