Rifle Scopes 1-4 PST VS SWFA

Re: 1-4 PST VS SWFA

I'm not sure if there is or not but I have the PST and I love it. The reticle is awesome, the fit and finish is great, the glass is very clear, the turrets are solid. It's a true 1x. I'm sure the SWFA is just as good too though, and also true 1x.

Compared to the SWFA, from what I've read, the main differences are that the SWFA is FFP where as the PST is SFP, and the reticle choices that come with it. The reticle on the PST, I like a lot. I reticle on the SWFA are very nice as well. If you do a search here on the SWFA 1-4, you'll see pics of it at 1X (I like the donut at 1x) and at 4X (i prefer the T at 4X). This is just my preference, but I prefer the 4X on the PST as it isn't FFP; again, this is just personal preference. I'm sure there are lots of people that like the FFP on the 1-4.

I suppose another difference between the two scopes is that the SWFA's glass is HD. I'm not sure how much better, if any, it is versus the PST's. You'd have to ask someone who's seen both. I have a SWFA 10X HD and the glass on that is very clear. If their 1-4X is anything like the 10X HD, you'll be very happy with the SWFA 1-4's glass.

They both have illumination. From what I've read, the SWFA is very visible in daylight. I can say the same is true of the PST as well.

Both have excellent customer service IMO.

The SWFA also has options for exposed turrets or capped turrets whereas the PST's are exposed. SWFA also has an extra battery holder on the knob, I believe. I'm sure you'll be happy with either choice. Personally for me, the only reason I chose the PST over the SWFA at the time was because I wanted an SFP 1-4X and I really liked the PST's reticle.

The SS is DEFINITELY true 1x. And I would wager to say that it is much better than "just as good". I have not used a PST, but I have seen them and looked through them. The glass isn't even in the same neighborhood. Neither is the reticle. The SS is head and shoulders above the PST in both categories (though I suppose reticle is subjective so YMMV).

I too was a bit skeptical on the ffp in a low range scope, but it absolutely works. On 1x it works very similar to a EOTech type reticle with your eye being drawn to the middle of the donut, and at 4x you have a full sized, fully functional mil scale reticle. It's fanfriggintastic.

I have seen both.

It's not a fair comparison. The SS is in a different class. It's more comparable to NF or even IOR glass than anything else.

The SS is daylight visible on 11 and mostly daylight visible on 10.

Yes and yes.

Made my first kill with the SS 1-4x this morning. A 57 lb song dog! The reticle was a big help in acquisition.
