hey all- looking for the names of some match triggers for the 10/22 that are being used-and if its a drop in kit or what- haven't really done any homework on this, figured its easier to ask people that already have one... really all i am going for is a little lighter trigger.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

lol well ok that was easy enough

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

wow... what if i don't want a trigger worth as much as the rifle?? i guess whats the second place?

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

KIDD is a very nice piece. But its a 2 stage trigger. If you like a 2-Stage then your good but me I cant get use to one so I didnt like it. I have found the Power Custom drop in hammer to be the nicest/cheapest way to get a 2.5lb trigger. If you want to do a lot of work and trial and error then there is a lot more you can do. I have 2 10/22s that I have at 10oz with the factory trigger parts in them still.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

Stone it your self or just get a hammer replacement. Check this links.

VCL 10/22 Target Hammer

The target hammer is designed to give the factory Ruger 10/22 a superb "trigger job" by simply replacing the factory hammer. The hammer notch is precision surface ground. No stoning or fitting is required. Reduces trigger pull down to approximately 2.5 - 2.75lbs.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

You can do it yourself (see RimfireCentral).
You can use a PowerCustom hammer/sear kit ($50-70).
You can have one of the many smiths specializing in 10/22s do a trigger job ($50-70).
You can put in a KID and be done with it ($300).
NOTHING in between is better than the cheap option.
Tony Kidd's baby is orders of magnitude ahead of everything else.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

RFC and look up TT Shooter - excellent work.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

I agree, the Kidd is very nice but is a 2 stage. I prefer the Volquartsen trigger groups myself. Plus the Power Custom hammer & sear that you install yourself is also excellent. I have used those also. It's good everybody doesn't like the same thing or there wouldn't be enough to go around...lol.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

sweet thanks guys- will let you know when i get it. prolly going with the adjustable pc...

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

i put the volquartsen hammer in one of my 10/22s and i really like it. i have used other power custom stuff, but i like the volquartsen hammer. it was 50-70 and had a new spring. i wish there were a place to see the trigger groups side by side. id put a kidd or volq in either gun, but it would be nice to lay hands on them first

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

I have a Rimfire Technologies trigger group in mine. It's the best I've used, but I haven't used the Kidd.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

R/T, VQ, Hammer/sear kits can make for some pretty nice triggers, but they're just refinements of the original Ruger design.
The Jard and Timney are completely different, even if the Timney drops into the original housing. They're both like good combat pistol triggers, single stage.
The Kid is completely different from anything else, designed from the ground up as a match trigger. None of its parts are interchangeable with the original. It's in a class of its own.

Re: 10/22 match trigger?

Kidd 100% nothing better for a 10/22, if not a Kidd then do a PC and save your money. My $.02
