10/24 Carlos Hathcock Match - Highland Lakes NJ

[Sierra Bravo]

Anyone interested in a 300 yard match in North Jersey on Sunday? I'm going it solo unfortunately, and need some help. It's a 4-man match, shot in 4 heats. From where I remember scoring is the lewis system. Starts at 9, entrance is $20, plan on being there around 8.

Details:
+/- .30cal (.270/.308/30.06)
Prone Position
Bi-pods OK
No Sniper Spikes (Hand must be between rifle and ground)
No Shooting Jackets
No Spotter
20mins ~ 20rnds
5min Sight-in Unlimited shots

It's a great match hosted by the NJ Marine Corps League.

I would have shot tomorrow but only logged on today after a month off line. I shoot at central jersey.please let me know when the next competition is planned and I will shoot

Today the conditions were excellant for shooting a lite caliber 6mm,223,308.The winds were very mild and temp was near perfect and we all had fun.Thanks to the West Hudson Marine Corps League for the chow and hot apple cider which was awesome.Also much thanks to this years sponsors giving away some equipment to the top shooters and I think it was accurate rifles.Nobody shot a perfect score even in such conditions as a mild breeze the head shots were diffucult.Even though the conditions were mild the clouds played a big factor on some shooters the right side seemed to be more shaded and unable to see the white box even with the 45x by 80 kowa spotting scope and barely visiable when the sun was out on the target face.I suspect the lighting caused some low shots and had taken it's toll on the shooters.Some shooters had some really nice groups like Nino Mayers but he was off the target due to a scope setting malfunction but he kept shooting anyway way to go for the OLD CORPS he vowed a comeback next year.Some shooters had ammo problems and caused misses and of coarse the crossfires were still hampering some shooters.Overall it was a great day and still a challenge for fixed position shooting.See ya all next year Semper Fi

This was my first time there, I made the trip from north central Pa. Had heard of this match for years, Finally went, I really didn't know what to expect, Am a hi power shooter, shot this with coat and sling, Not seeing your hits is not what I am used too!!! Only thing I saw that was not right , Was some targets grey pasters were darker than others , which gave them a little advantage, Other than that, Was a GREAT time,Talked to alot of new and old friends, Would reccomend this to anyone to have a good time and talk shooting........miker out

Yup it was a good time with some good people. Chili was awesome! A bit spicy so glad I got a cup after I shot

Couple of rifle cases stacked up blocked JerseyMike's 300wm muzzle brake which allowed me to leave the match without a headache

Between my health and Celia's, the 4+ hour trek is getting a bit much for me. I miss the cameraderie and especially the guys from West Hudson. I used to belong to the Team when I was back in Jersey. Good to hear it all went so well.
