I am going to be buying a scope for my first precision rig. I am going with a vortex razor hd 5-20 with the ebr-2 reticle. I can find the 5 mil turrets in stock but the 10 mil turrets seem to either be sold out everywhere or much more expensive (over $140 more) than places that have the 5 mil in stock and sold out of the 10 mil. Being relatively new to longer range will I be sacraficing too much going with the 5 mil over the 10. If I ever really get to stretch the legs of my rifle about 1000 would be max since it is a .308 otherwise 600 will be a common longer shot the rifle will see but future calibers could be anything. I was told by the cheapest dealer who has the 5 mil in stock ETA of the 10 mil would be around Feb 1. I am not really wanting to wait that long, I havle already been putting this thing together since June and finally have the funds for glass. What would you do?

I have the 5 mil and prefer it for a couple reasons. I like the wider spacing on the knob. One rev is 800yds on my
creedmoor which most shooting is in there or below. It has a rock solid zero stop so who really cares how many revs but you know it's rarely going to be more then 2 revs. That's my .02

Either will do you well as long as it has a zero stop.
I have a couple 5 mil Razors, I also like the wider spacing and being able to see the where I'm at fast.
The Razors also have the turrets marked for each mil beyond 5 so its easy enough to look for the 7 above the 2 mil mark.

Some aspect I like the 5mil over the 10mil. The 5mil has bigger spacing make it nice when adjusting the turret fast. The 10MRAD is nice to have so you do not have to get lost on what REV your on. You will be happy with whatever turret you get.

I would definitely go 10-mil. ESPECIALLY if you're shooting a .308. Depending on your load, one rev will get you to 1K. It gets me there easy shooting 155 scenars decently hot. I'm right at 8.9-9mil to 1000yds

Mine has the EBR-2B reticle with the 10 mil turrets and I love it. Clicks are crisp and marks easy to read even with my crappy eyes. Forget the 5 mil and get the 10. You'll be much happier in the long run. Mile High Shooting has had a great sale on these with 35 mm Suphr mount for just $1999-can't be beat. (not sure sale still on)

Since.you asked "what would I do?" ...I would buy a Bushnell ERS or NF F1 and skip the Vortex altogether. Hey, but on positive note, you will get great customer service WHEN it has a problem.

Go with the 10 mil turrets. When u shoot out to 1k yrds u will be glad u have 10 mil per turn. It's real easy to get turned around and forget how many mils ur at if u have to turn turrets more than 1 turn

i saw a video on the razor on optics planet and show the diffrence between the two i personally would like the five mil cuz i dont shoot far enough and the spacing and clicks for me would be more practical.... then again thats just me
