I've never been a McCain fan for a multitude of reasons, some of them are listed is this article that a retired neighbor sent me today:

So in looking for the truth...… I figured there would be plenty in The Hide with the knowledge to dispute or support the points covered in this article.

1. Mccain did not start the Forrestal fire but he did run off to the ready room and sit steady while the rest of the ship battled for its life. The next day a reporter from the Times (IIRC) showed up and McCain made buddies with him and told a tale of heroism. Abandoned In Place was authored by the woman linked in the article above and is a great read on how fucked up our government is and shines light on the absolute scum our elected officials are.

Granted the alternatives were kind of barren, it was a case of lesser of the evil choices.

I read Nightingales Song, new some of the stories of his selfish past, didnt do the research to learn he had gone into overdrive on being an asshole.
