Took a whack at 1260 yards with the .308 shooting 168 gr smk...

The day before this I shot a .56 moa 5 shot group at 960 yards.
I realize it Is well past its supersonic flight. Just had to see for my self how it would do. HAHA

That's about exactly what I'd expect from the 168SMK. They were most definitely tumbling. Don't get down on yourself. Your other videos prove you can shoot. This was just a good exercise in wrong bullet for the application. Guess Bryan Litz is no dummy!

Nice shooting.

It doesn't look like its tumbling to me, looks like there was a high enough DA that the bullet was doing just fine through the sound barrier. Tumbling would have had most of the shots disappear with no impact tracking whatsover, it would have been reasonable to see them all over the side of the mountain.

The vertical stringing is consistent with behavior seen shooting well past sonic transition with many bullets, even ones known to be stable through transition.

I suspect that the effective DA was well in excess of 5000' ASL during this.

I just ran some numbers...

The 168 SMK was going 1000 FPS at target, and took 17.5 Mil to get there

I have shot the 155 SMK PALMA out of my gun at 3029 FPS, But only at 200 yards, But according to my figures this bullet would arrive at target at 1233 FPS, and take 11.9 Mil to get there.
