Is anyone shooting 1000+ with anything other than a bolt action? I'm sure the majority of 1000+ shooters are bolt action. but I'm just curious if there is anything else out there someone is using.

I have seen some single shots reach out there. both t/c encore and ruger #1. No reason a bolt action is needed.

Shot my M1A at 1k hitting plates pretty good 2moa targets not every shot but it was hella fun! 40.5g IMR 4895 and 175smk's. Sure the bolt gun was more consistent/precise but semi's are freakin awesome!

I have a ruger no 1 that can get there, and on a perfect day i can get there with my AR-15

Weak, but my 6.5 Grendel was on at 900 consistently. NF Exbal says I can get to 1150-1200yds with the load, and the way it shot at 900, I am not doubting.

I've had the AR-15 in 223 out to 1000 yards on paper. Longest kill with it is a prarie dog at 905 yards. I'm running a 1:7.7 twist bbl with 75 gr match hollow points. Supersonic to 1000 yards at my elevation (6500 ft). Dicey in the wind.

im pretty impressed. maybe its just because the hype is bolt action for long shots. 90% of the time all you hear about is bolt actions for long shots....

DPMS LR-260 with 123 Amax's @ 2940 was not much trouble hitting 12"x12" steel at 1200.
Same rifle with 140 Amax's at 2750 was fun hitting steel to 1450. Targets ranged from 12"x12" to 24"x30".

smith and wesson m&p-15, .223 Hornady superformace factory rounds, yhm phantom suppressor, and an trigicon accog 4x32. two different shooters on the same day(me and a buddy) made shots at 1150yds on 1/4 steel man sized targets. it can be done but it is very difficult. we both switched to a savage 10fp-sd with a yhm phantom suppressor and 4x12 leupold mark ar and hit the same distance. between both guns we probably went thru 40 rounds and hit 8 times. majority of rounds went thru the ar with the accog on top.
