I've run a bunch of the DTACs in 6CM, Proof SS 26" 7.5T, CCI200s, ~39gn of H4350 or ~41gn StaBall 6.5 = ~2900fps.

@Hunt what G7 do you run with the nose ring dtac? Curious as I'm thinking bout using them for hunting this coming season.

I'm using Litz's number: .276. I haven't played with it enough to really hone in. This gets me on steel at 1K. Start there and see what that gets you.

6XC, 115 DTAC uncoated nose ring rbt, 31" 1:7 Schneider barrel, 38.8 gns H4350 = avg MV of 3139

Thanks Yall

Im really liking the DTAC .

20" 7twist 6Creedmoor for Me. 2 good nodes in mid/high 2700s & mid 2800s with N-160

Thinking My next barrel will be a 20-22" 7twist 6XC

Not to derail your thread or change your question/answer, But I have shot the Dtac and the Berger VLD Hunting bullet from a 243 with the same exact load. Dtac hit slightly lower atb 1,000 yards. Both gave really good groups. I'm pretty sure my Dtacs were coated

How old were the Dtacs? They had a quoted 580G1 when the RBT design first launched in 2018, the newest iteration is being advertised at 620g1. I'm sure it'll true out somewhere in the middle. I have 2500 on order.

The earliest pictures I have are from November 2020.

I have 2 lot numbers of naked DTAC RBT without nosering . Both these lots true out at .295-.300 G7 in a 7tw barrel

Ive been using basically the same numbers for the newest RBT version.
So what im taking away from this, no real world bc difference than 109 hyb or 110 atips, can't run as fast due to long bearing/weight, but quite a bit cheaper bullet to shoot. 109s are very jump tolerant, as are the 115s from all I've heard, 110 atips need tuning in my experience.

The same thing applies to 112gn Match Burners, and they're even cheaper to shoot than DTACs.

I agree the DTACs are more tangent-ish like Hybrids versus more VLD/secant-ish like the MBs (which does make them a little more like A-tips IMHO). I don't think VLD's are any less jump tolerant anymore though, they're just different, I think with VLD's it's more like: jam or jump? There's no in-between IMO. Most VLD's actually shoot bad for me at the usual/vanilla .020" off most guys try, and I think that's why they get a bad reputation sometimes.

My completely unscientific gut guess is: the extra weight in grains with DTACs/MBs gets you cheap BC if you don't need all the speed.

If you want a .300ish G7 BC, and the speed, it will literally cost you, because it means paying for Bergers and A-tips lol.

Dasher
Manson reamer with .140 freebore
.016 jump
33.6 grns. Reloader 15.5
2954 fps average (10 shots)
4.6 SD
17 ES

Tried 33.7. 3 of 10 shots had increased bolt lift pressure. If I lengthen the throat .030, I may just get 3000 fps with no pressure. At the very least, it will no longer be a compressed load. I'm also going to try RE 16 because no one has 17 to see if a slower powder will increase velocity.

Edit: Forgot to add 30" Krieger 1.25 " straight barrel in 7.5
BR-4 primers
Alpha brass

Anybody able to push these (non coated) over 3000 with a 22” bbl? I hit 3100 with a 26” bbl, figure it’ll be close. trying to keep velocity over 1800fps to 700-750 yds. That 26” is braked, the 22” will be suppressed. Alpha reamer on both.

No, IME that’s going to be pushing the upper limit from a barrel that short.

22” PVA osprey, suppressed.
2900 with N160
2950 with staball 6.5
Bare RBT with nosering, G7 trued out at about .296.

Thanks. I’ll see what 4350 can do. 3100 was pretty easy with no pressure signs in that 26” bartlein. It’s a hunting rifle, so barrel life won’t be an issue and I’d be willing to take some minor swipes of needed to get there
