Any of you guys using R-17 in you 260s or 6.5 Credmor with the 120gr bullets?? If so what is your load an how do they shoot??? What are you getting for velocities?? Thanks guys!!!!

Re: 123 load for 260 with R-17??

I've tried R17 with the 140 VLD's and it shot great. It did not give as good of ES and SD numbers at H4350. But the load that I found was more accurate than H4350. So, I went with H4350. Check out Alliant's website. They should have data on R17 with the 260.

I never loaded RL17 with a 123 grain bullet in 6.5 Creedmoor but, I have loaded it with 140 VLD’s & 142 grain Sierra HPBT’s with good success. I’m getting about 100 FPS increase over loads using H4350 with the same bullet.
For 123 grain bullets, I’ve been using Varget.
So if you are going to do some load testing with 120 grain and RL17, let us know how things go. Should be a screamer, I’m thinking that you may see some velocities well over 3000 FPS.

been a few years since i had my 260 but tested a few powders, H4350, varget, RL17. Best numbers and ran that load for a while was 40.4 varget with 123 lapua, and lapua brass fgmm primer. Sd/Es was 2/6 over 10 rds. Never got RL17 to produce low SD/es like that but it would push the 139Lapuas to 2900+ easy. Barrel was a shilen 23in. H4350 gave good numbers but lower velocities. Tube may have been a bit short to take full advantage of RL17 and H4350.

Dont be scared to try 4064 with 123gr bullets in 260’s. My hunting ld is 3000fps. Lil rough on brass. Keep my target lds lil slower
