130 grain 308 questions.

I have some Speer 130 grain hollow point 308 bullets that I thought about loading up and running thru my 308 POF 20" 1-10 twist. Their just collecting dust anyway

Primarily I run 168 smk's, barnes x bullets and 150-168 nosler BT's thru it and I'm getting good accuracy out of it.
I have never loaded 130 grain 308 bullets up and thought I would ask what these might fly like with the twist I have..

I am sure they will be just fine. I have shot 125 noslers into more than a few deer. Accuracy was plenty good enough.

I loaded with varget I believe. Didnt load them super hot though.

I shot alot of 125 noslers with Win 748 and varget. Pretty hard on deer and coyotes.

I got a hold of some of the Mk319 (130 grain hp)pulldown bullets recenly and have loaded them up for my 18 inch M1A so far with acceptable results, my first try was 46.0 of some old 4895, netting me an avg of 2700 out of a truly worn out battle grade barrel, about average accuracy. It is a 10 twist barrel.


I was looking for a load for tac match use, easy to shoot, minute of zombie accuracy, and quick follow up.

Works like a top for all three, the lighter bullets, for most applications you would use your POF for, are exceptional.

I also loaded them with 45 grains of pulldown 846 and had them flying over 2900, but with machine gun ammo accuracy. Still a helluva lot less recoil than the all day 168 smk load i've been shooting for years, so I'm happy.

I'm gonna work them out some more later.

I shoot some 130gr. Grad with 51.5 gr varget .308 at 737 yard it shoot 6 moa less than my 175smk. Just a tick under 3200fps.
