I know in the past few years there’s been an issue with the 147 eldm and their ability to hold together. I’m curious if that’s still the case or if that issue has been resolved and they are a viable bullet again? I’ve used 140s with good success but was curious to try these.

I have not had any issues with them in 6.5 Cr. The max velocity that I'm getting is about 2800. I actually prefer them to the ELDX for hunting.

I posted about this awhile back due to my confusion in another thread. These bullets would group great with 43.3 gr of Staball at 100m. But they would blow up in flight or destabilize after 300m when I tested them on paper. This was with a 1:8 twist barrel, which should be entirely adequate to stabilize this bullet.

I moved back to shooting 140gr Sierras, it wasn't worth the trouble to deal with the 147s. The consensus seems to be that there are inconsistencies between lots and you don't know what you'll get. Called hornady and was told they hadn't heard this was a problem. I don't have enough free time or money to waste on bullets I have questionable confidence in.

These were shot at 300m to verify drop the next day using the 43.3gr load. Each group was 5 shots, 1 blew up in each 5.

Been shooting 147‘s in LHGT 8 to 7.7 Creedmoore for years with no issues. Loaded in PRC 7.5 twist at 2980 and having 3 in 10 disappear at about 75yards? Switched to berger 156 better ballistics just hard to find.
