155 grn .308 loads

...what kind of results have folks been getting with the new high bc 155's...???...

...I am hearing that modern 155 grn .308 loads are rivaling .260 Rem perfomance down range...

...what 155 grn bullets are people having the best results with...???...

There's nothing really modern about 155 loads in a 308. I think it's just that people are finally starting to catch on that a 175 SMK is not the only good load for a 308.

Scenars, AMAXs and the Sierra 155 will all give very satisfactory downrange ballistic performance.

Im running a 19 inch 308 tube, and pushing the 155 Scenars about 2850 fps.

Have you shot them past 600 yards? How do they do at 1000?

have i shot them to 1K, yes they do great take me right at 9.8 mils to 1K, they buck the wind pretty decently as well.

I'm running the Scenars to 2980 from a 26' tube and they're 7.9 mil to 1K. I've taken them out to 1320 so far with no problems, that's just about as far as I would want to take them. It took only 13.1 mil at that distance and an 8 mph wind was not even an issue.

I've found Benchmark a good powder choice to get the velocity without any pressure.

**** WORK UP TO THESE LOADS. They can get into dangerous territory in 90*+ Temps. In my rifle I went to 47.8gr without any visible pressure signs. Chrony started showing drop in FPS at 47.8 so I backed off to 47.4 and it shoots well there.

210m primers
Lapua brass

Haven't chrono'd but guessing 2930-2950 at 3200ft altitude.
Outta factory Rem700 with 25" barrel. 8.2 mil to 1K, if I remember correctly.

Great load but its really working the brass. Wondering if the fifth load is gonna happen with primer pockets getting loose after fourth load.

As the above shooting 46.1 RL15 155L naked 2940 fps which is hard on primer pockets. I have been using a Hart Primer Pocket Uniformer Tool to restore then after 4th firing and use Russian LMR primers that are a little larger dia than US primers.

Use Lapua brass, get them up to 2900 if the rifle allows, and forget about it.
