155 Lapua Scenars out of 1:10 twist?

Hey gents-

I'm fairly new to reloading and have been working primarily with .308 175 SMKs out of my 22" Broughton 1:12 twist bolt gun.

I've been working up a load for my Remy with a 20" 1:10 twist and was wondering how if 155 Scenars would work? Is it worth doing for that quick of a twist rate?

Also, what is the max recommended load from Lapua for IMR 4895 with the 155? I don't have a lapua book.

Try it out, I would. 41-45 grains is in the ball park. You should be able to load 44.5 and be plum safe.

I know many who shoot the 155's out of Savage with 1-10 twist 26" barrels with great success. Give it a try.

Hey, those things are about as long as the old 173-gr M118 bullet--which in .30-06 was loaded into M72 Match and fired out of 1:10 M1 Garands just fine (2650 +/- 30 fps at 26 yards about = 2700 or a bit less at the muzzle.)

I use 155's in a 1:10 twist Kreiger with excellent reasults.

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm going to load some up today and shoot tomorrow. Still trying to find out what the max recommended load is with IMR 4895. Will start at 43.0 and move to 45. (seems everyone here shoots at least 45 with that powder, so that should be safe)

45.6gr or ther abouts should be golden
OAL 2.820 lapua brass

155 scenars shoot real well from my 26" 308 mcgowen 1-10 / savage
