I know that such a combination with an ar-15 would lead to reliability issues due to insufficient dwell time. But how about 308 ARs? I know kac and their EMCs seem to be doing fine in this configuration. so would a custom built 308 with a 16" barrel and rifle length system work without modifications?

I have one it works fine although I don't see any advantage to it vs. a mid length. Maybe a small amount of felt recoil.
