16" AX 308?

I need to get my AX 308 barrel re threaded to the proper threads. It is 20", thinking about having it cut to 16 when it gets rethreaded. Any reason not to? I live in the east and my range only goes to 600, I have 800 on my other place but don't use that much. I shoot suppressed 100% of the time.

Also who does the best job with the shortest turn around and cheapest price these days?

I had great luck with LRI getting my AT barrel cut/threaded; I wouldn't hesitate to go with them again.

Can’t think of a reason not to especially on a switch barrel.

I cut my Post-14 down to 16.5” by mile high. With 43.7g of Varget thrown on a Prometheus scale, if nets me 2477fps with a 175g SMK. SDs are low low low - probably because the Prometheus.

Well the rifle came. It was advertised with metric threads and a brake. But it just had a thread protector hiding 5/8-24 threads. Which was a nice surprise. So will be leaving it 20" for now. Thanks for the advice.
