Ran loads today in .2 grain increments from 42.7 to 43.5.All loads shot close to the same group,.5 to .6.Where do you go from there?I was using
IMR 4064
168 SMK
2.800 OAL
Fed Brass
Fed Primers
1/11 twist barrel
Shoots 168 Fed gold medal match great
Any recommendations or loads you want to share?
Thanks

Do you know what reamer was used for the barrel or is it a factory gun? Have you found the distance to the lands for the 168 SMK? I have the same components as you except I'm using Lapua brass and found good accuracy at 43.0 gr and 44.4 gr of IMR 4064. My COAL is about 2.810" which is about 0.020" off the lands. You can do a seating depth test to see if you can tighten up the groups a little more. I would start at 0.010" off the lands and back off in 0.005" increments.

How did the 43.5 load shoot? My 168gr. FGMM duplicate loading was 43.6gr. of 4064, which would vary a couple tenths depending on the lot.

It is a custom build and it is a hammer with factory FGMM 168's.I am at about 2.845 to the lands,so I have been seating at 2.800 since it shoots so good with FGMM.I am going to have to change to Lapua brass because my federal is shot out so that is going to change things also.I just have not hit that sweet spot yet and my new Lapua brass weighs about 3 grains less than the Fed.
