Maybe it was just a coincidence..but I measured the OAL with a BERGER VLD (.308...168gr) and came up with 2.800 dead on. This is pretty much the book measurement.

This is on a Rem 700 SPS. How far "into" the lands do you guys like to seat the VLD's?

I had some loads that were 2.835" and they didn't shoot very well. I am hoping that these 2.800 loads shoot better

I'm shooting the same bullets and I got better accuracy, from .75" to .372" 4 shot groups, when I went from 2.800" to 2.835". The Bergers are supposed to shoot best when jammed or close to 0 jump, but you will limit your gun to a single shot. I hunt with mine so that isn't acceptable.
