One doesn’t need to talk about remind everyone that there are little to no brass to be found especially in more exclusive calibers.

I tried doing this about a year ago but the case neck split and crushed shoulders then I read something on the Sinclair website which gave me an idea so I thought I’d revisit it

Using the bullet seater die on the 17 hornet Rcbs die , I was able to form the brass more successfully without crushing the shoulder/brass
Initially I didn’t have very good success because I anealed the brass prior to forming it. I just need to trim it more before doing the final forming on the full length sizing die of the .17 hornet

The pictures of the almost successful and then the ones that were not
    Will have to trim first
Then it will have to be fire formed as nobody makes a hydraulic die to form it prior to shooting which would create the final case shoulder

I’ve got a 17 Remington on its way that I will use 223 brass as a parent case.

    Ar15 in .17rem.
I’d like to do it different way but I think this is the only way I can do it

There was a gentleman that made 17 rim out of 223 casing but I believe he’s folded up

FYI :the final casing on the right is a factory hornet casing.
I did not have a finish casing yet as I have not trimmed it and haven’t set it up yet

My Ar15 17rem barrel arrived today and I started down the path of making 17rem out of 223 brass.... very happy with results.
    Will do separate post
