Today I went out and played with my new laser rangefinder, and I learned that I can shoot up to about 300 yards on my property. I am wondering if it's worth it to put a bench at 200 yards and fool with .17 HMR. Is this a good way to learn about wind, or is .17 HMR too bouncy and unpredictable to learn from?

Also, Merry Christmas.

Any time spent at extended range is worthwhile.
Use wind flags and watch results relative to conditions indicated.
200 yards with the 17 hmr is my preference
10 shots for score is how I track improvement over time.
