So I’m fairly new to reloading. I recently picked up a Nemo omen Recon with 18” barrel. Plan on suppressing it. Currently I’m shooting HSM with 210 Berger vld over h1000. It shoots well, but I just wonder if a quicker burning powder would help make up for my shorter barrel. Possibly Hybrid 100v or h4350? Anyone experienced?

They say the best powder tends to be the best powder for a given combo of bullet and powder regardless of barrel length.... using a gas gun though, that might change things a bit and you could possibly use a powder that excels there verses a bolt gun.

I like h1000 in my bolt... do you have an adjustable gas system? I believe the Nemo does, but I'm not sure. That could definitely give you a little more room to play and optimize things.

Yeah, it has four settings. With the H1000 I’m running it wide open. I tried some FGMM 190 smk, that must have a quicker powder I think, I could turn it down to 3

Nice, those are pretty slick rifles.

I'd just do a little load work and find something that works well... you know with the mad max level component shortage and all.

If you're chasing velocity, I'm not sure you'll be able to do much to offset the shorter barrel in a meaningful way, but I could be wrong. If you have the components, give it a go!

Function and a good consistent load would be my goals in that rifle, especially times like now.

The main difference on powders in this case, is going to be how much unburned powder is making it to the can.

Also, check with suppressor manufacturer, many are not rated for a magnum with a barrel that short.
