I took the Howa 308 out today. It has an 18.5” barrel with a AMTAC reflex suppressor.
Hits on a 10” plate at 475 yards were easy peasy. Moved back to 605 yards same target...easy peasy. Moved back to 760 yards and pulled a few off target but still made connections. Moved back to 1000 yards and struggled with just 1 impact same 10” target which is a 1 moa target at that distance.
I’m shooting factory Federal Berger 185 juggernaut ammo. If only I had a chronograph to check this stuff. Sometimes I had some heavy bolt lift and my impacts at 1,000 were above the target stand. Impacts level but missed due to wind had normal bolt lift.
The other note...this ammo constantly challenges your recoil control. I was shooting from the bed of a pickup truck, so if everything wasn’t perfect...the recoil would push me off target. The Hornady 155eld ammo was much softer shooting and forgiving.
