18" 6.5 PRC anyone?

With a barrel that short you may have better luck trying different powders in a creedmoor. Not sure the cost and barrel life trade off is worth it at that length. Some of the slower powders may not see much, if any, benefit from the increased capacity without the barrel length to burn it.

I think I'm gonna try it.

Unless you are reloading you aren’t going to see the velocities you think you are. The SAUM and 6.5 PRC use slower burning powders and the longer barrels (what they were designed around) help them burn it up but that’s what also allows for better barrel life while running more powder.

If you did reload the 6.5 PRC with H4350 in a 18.”5 barrel I bet you could see 2800+ but barrel life would probably be less then 1000 rounds my guess.

There’s no free lunch in the game of ballistics/reloading. Wish I would have learned that sooner than later.
