Looking at doing an 18" PRC to have a shorter package and still get 140's or 147's to 6.5CM 24" velocities.

Anyone have any real world data on an 18" 6.5PRC shooting 140 ELD or 147 ELD? Was hoping to get 2750-2800 out of a 140 and prolly 50fps less out of a 147.

Also. What powder would be best H1000 or RL26?

Thanks!

Rl26 will always be the best powder for absolute speeds and will likely have the performance you're after. Rl26 will push 140s well over 3k in a 24" barrel. Hell with my nephews 20" 65cm I was able to run 140 Bergers up to psi signs at 2870 w/ rl26.

H-1000 isn't really going to get you there, mainly because of the length of the barrel. RL-26 can do it. If you're lucky to be able to get hold of Retumbo or N560, they too can get you there. The N560 would be my choice then RL-26.

Very nice. Would H4350 be a good candidate for an 18" barrel? Or would pressure be too high for PRC to get speed?

No, it just won't quite get you to where you say you want to be. But, it could get you to ~2750 if you were to load long and to maximum pressure or above and you'd probably have a hard time finding a good accuracy node there. Those other powders would be much easier where you can find an upper accuracy node without going to the max or more.

Ok great. Thanks for the advice. I've got 7lbs of H4350 that's why I ask. I'll keep an eye out for RL26 or N560
